beatiful pics. Istiklal avenue is one of the best avenues in the world. 7/24 live in all year. over 2.5 million people pass or visit this avenue everyday.

Yeah - i like it!
i remember there was a cool english bookshop near the bottom. Was very sad to see the destruction caused bby the bombing of brit embassy . . . the trams are smart too. When i was there in 83, there were still cars on the road, then in 91, it was totally pedestrianised - Istanbul's modernisation (i think this a better term than 'westernised') has been gradual. |

great street ! it could be in Paris, Rome or Madrid - no difference, it looks very "european" IMO
