![]() Well maybe you should ask the RFL because its they who are insisting on everybody having new stadia. I am sure Cas supporters and the club would like to stay where they are but its just not an option. Also the argument about stadia close together applies to many other towns/cities - do we need 2 stadiums in Hull, Widnes/Warrington/St helens or Leeds/Hunslet etc. |

Latest Tigers Stadium news:-
http://www.pontefractandcastlefordex...ream_1_2859728 So Castleford still promising the stadium - but now is the time for action not words. They need to start building April 2011 at the very latest - so we will soon know if the scheme is viable or not. |

None of the big schemes have started in the last year but this is the latest AFAIK for anyone interested.
1. The bus/rail interchange was not included in the budget so is cancelled - probably permamently - but certainly for a long time. 2. The Forum - which is the refurb of the Library/museum is going ahead with a much reduced budget. The Library is closed and works are about to begin. The budget is £1.4m but it is not clear exactly what they are doing. All we really know is the existng frontage is being retained and the museum space is being doubled - so it may just be an internal refurb with no extra space. 3. Cas Tigers ground seems completely stalled. They are now banking on selling the ground to a supermarket - but no one seems anxious to buy. I am now of the opinion that it will never happen. Probably hear something in the next 3/4 months as after that time it will be too late anyway. 4. Tesco have stated that they are looking for a site in the town and have objected to a planning app renewal for a town center supermarket/retail/apartments which has been around for years - it will be a good indication of which way the council is thinking when they make a decision ie give Tesco a green light or stick with the existing scheme. 5. There have been some more houses built at the Glasshoughton site but nothing else - still loads of room up there if the economy ever recovers. |

Some progress pics on the Library. They have demolished the old 2 storey block behind the listed front building and are replacing it with a 3 storey block on the same footprint.

The Navigation Point scheme has received some HCA money and phase 1(279 total homes) has started on site. Whole scheme is 1300 homes.
The site ![]() Renders and plans ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Looking at the site its very similar to Yarn Street in Leeds although bigger and the housing looks more traditional. |
