if you follow the above link to skyscrapernews.com then click the link on the right "view in google maps" that will give it to within a few metres. that is block D. the other towers are huddled round it by the irwell. you might also find a map at www.westproperties.com

oh by the way, there is no street in manchester called owen street. owen street was the name of some company involved (i can't remember their role). bit of a misnomer.

I maybe behaving a wee bit dumb here Comdot, but do you mean parcel of land?

Dandara own this plot do they not? Crownpoint, that defunct sloped roof tower we got a bit excited about back in the day.

From what I remember, a planning app. was never submitted. There was a model and massing render doing the rounds a few years back, but this was about the same time we all learnt about St George's and Spectrum.

And considering how shit they turned out, it's probably just as well Crown Point never came to light.

Car park operator rescues apartment site
By Simon Binns

Colchester-based car park operator Total Car Parks has taken the lease on a Manchester city centre site originally intended for use as an apartment scheme.

The Manchester office of Colliers CRE let Unit 1 on Great Jackson Street, Manchester to the firm for use as a budget car park.

The site off Chester Road and fronting the Mancunian Way was let on behalf of Combined Property Control to Total Car Parks for five years at a rent of £24,000 per annum.

It covers 19,657 sq ft and comprises a single storey warehouse and first floor offices with service yard and parking.

Julien Kenny-Levick, director of logistics and industrial at Colliers CRE Manchester, said: “The acquisition of this site marks the start of an ambitious drive by Total Car Parks to acquire budget car parking accommodation.

“Total is targeting sites earmarked for uses including residential development but that have been put on hold because of the recession.”

well spotted jrb. if i recall, this part of the development plan area had no buildings with planning permission, and had only made it past development plan stage?
while i'm at it, did joosey ever submit that planning application? they told me 'within weeks' when i went to their PC.

Car parks pulling out ?

several people who use the car parks on this development site have been told that the car parks are closing ready for developments
hopefully something here at last - the planning permission for these sites was renewed last year 2010 -11 so the origanal plans are still in place
