PETALING JAYA (Feb 8, 2012): WCT Bhd has won a RM300.52 million contract from Putrajaya Management Sdn Bhd to build the headquarters of the Ministry of International Trade & Industry on Jalan Khidmat Usaha, Kuala Lumpur.

WCT received the letter of award on Monday.

Under the contract WCT is to build a 31-storey office tower, a two-storey car-park and a three-storey podium on the site, which is expected to be completed in February 2015.

"The contract is expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings and net assets for the financial years from 2012 to 2015," said WCT in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

(1) INTRODUCTION

WCT Berhad (“WCT” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract for the Proposed Design, Construction and Completion of the Government Building (Headquarters of the Ministry of International Trade & Industry) and External Works on part of PT 25966 (formerly known as Plot 8), Jalan Khidmat Usaha, Mukim Batu, Kuala Lumpur (“the Contract”) by Putrajaya Management Sdn Bhd (““the Employer”) vide a Letter of Award dated 6th February 2012. The Contract sum is RM300,519,423.68.


(2) SCOPE OF WORKS

The scope of works under the Contract includes the design and build of the government office building with GBI Gold rating consisting of a 31-storey office tower, a 2-storey car-park and a 3-storey podium (including foundation works, sub-structure, superstructure, architectural works, M&E, ID Fit-out) and External Works (“the Works”). The Works are expected to be completed in February 2015.


(3) FINANCIAL EFFECTS

The Contract is expected to contribute positively to the Group’s earnings and net assets for the financial years from 2012 to 2015.


(4) DIRECTORS' AND/OR MAJOR SHAREHOLDERS’ INTERESTS

None of the Directors and/or major shareholders of the Company or persons connected with them have any interest, direct or indirect, in the award of the Contract.


(5) APPROVALS REQUIRED

The award of the Contract is not subject to the approval of shareholders of the Company or any governmental or statutory authorities.


(6) STATEMENT BY DIRECTORS

The Directors of the Company are of the opinion that the acceptance of the award of Contract is in the best interest of the Company.
