Internship Toronto
Hi all,
I asked Taller,Better if I could start a thread about this here and he gave me permission so here it is. ![]() I'm a 19 year old student from Holland looking for an international internship in Toronto and I'm wondering if any of you could maybe point me in the right direction. Maybe you know someone or a company that hires international interns (or maybe the company you work at hires interns). I'm desperate to find something so all tips and suggestions are very welcome! What am I looking for: A company in (first choice) Toronto or any other city in Canada that has anything to do with business. (Marketing, import, export, etc.) The company should have at least 15 employees. The internship will take about 4/5 months (one semester) in fall 2012. It starts in either august or september and it ends in either december or january 2013. About me: 19 years old, I will be 20 when going on the internship. Second year international business and languages at Rotterdam university in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I currently own 2 companies (one in photography, one in import > co-owned.) and I work at a retail company selling mostly cameras and camera equipment part-time. Languages: Dutch and Frisian - C2 English - C2 German - C1 Spanish - B1 Furthermore I have a Dutch high school diploma and I have attended senior year high school in the United States. Like I said, I'm desperate to find something so all the help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! ![]() Niels

Careeredge.ca is a really good place to start. I got my bank internship through there a while ago and it's now paying off in spades.

Thanks TB. Just a quick bump.
Parents of a good friend of mine just returned from Canada. They have family over in Edmonton. Before they left for their trip I asked them to see if there are any internship opportunities over there and how things work. They asked family and friends and they told me that most internships are managed by local universities and colleges. Meaning you have to fix your internship via/through a local college or university. Can anyone here confirm this? A classmate of mine recently fixed an internship in Canada (he's the first of my college in like 4 years to succeed). Thing is he also has family living in Canada who basically fixed it for him. I asked him some questions about the visa and he said it's quite a lot of work to get one, because you have to get it from the embassy in Berlin. It takes over 6 weeks so I guess I have to find something quickly. I expected the Canadian visa to be very expensive but in comparison to the J1 visa (united states) it actually is very cheap. I think he said it's including service costs etc. about €230. Which I find to be quite reasonable. I've had a J1 visa from the states which was around €150. However, the same visa for an internship will cost me about €800. Crazy!! Anyway, hope that you guys by chance know if there are any opportunities for foreign interns in Toronto for this fall.. I have a CV ready if you are interested. Thanks!
