Is there any confirmed source of that? I truly hope it will be constructed^ It's a gap between the lower buildings (phase 1) that's need to be filled.

I think it is just a proposal which has been cancelled at the end

Hello everybody, I live in Nanjing, Here is some information regarding NIC - NANJING INTERNATIONAL CERTER
1. The phase I construction and decoration will be completed before March, 2011 and a big shopping mall (first floor to 7th floor) will open in this year 2010.

2. The condo in North tower (Right tower in the picture) is selling now, the price is from USD5000 to USD8000 per Square meter, the area is from 70M2 to 546M2.

3. The South tower (Left tower in the picture) is Westin Hotel and office, the office in this tower is for rent only. The Westin Hotel will open before march,2011

4. The Phase II, it's in process to prepare construction and it will be started before Feb,2011 and will be completed before Jan,2013.

5. The six Stars hotel - St.Regis will be a part of Phase II!

6. Now the Morgan stanley is the big share holder of NIC, they control 51% share in the corporation, with their support, NIC has enough money to complete Phase II in short time.

Sounds like St.Regis finally got a date on when Phase II will be finished. The Nanjing hotel page was removed for a while and reinserted.

Dont have an image of it, but I visited the mall 2 weeks ago. There was some cleared area behind the building and the surrounding apartments seemed empty... Once I will go back there I check it more in detail and take pictures...

Go to the back of the mall, ride the elevator to the eight floor, Four Seas International House

And look out this window should give you a pretty good view of the future plot.

went there last night. There are lots of machines on site, but they were not working. more like being stored. Workers homes existed and the surrounding houses seemed empty as if they were vacated. Looks like something is going on, but it was dark. So details were hard to make out....

When I left Nanjing at the end of June there was no sign of it so I assume not much has changed since then. The area of Nanjing around Hunan Lu shows a lot of resistance against being displaced by the authorities. Several supertall projects are already halted because of this and as far as I have seen this is also the issue here....

I don't think anything will happen any time soon, the city government completely chickened out on the land acquisition issues. I don't think NIC phase 1 has been completely rented out yet, no reason to start phase 2 just yet.
