Any news on when this place becomes a winter wonderland? I heard that snow would be hauled in and slides would be installed etc.

This ballpark would be so much better without the stacked suites down the third base line. I do love how the lights are designed to look like the sails of a ship though...

Snow Days are here!

N.Y. Times

Business Insider

There's also some sentiment about renaming Progressive Field after the late Bob Feller.

I went here a few years ago right before the attendance decline. It's a very nice place but I can't fathom the stacked suites. Just seems to make a mess of things.

Despite the suites and because of the continuous lower and upper deck, this place has a cleaner look than many ballparks that opened after it like Comerica, Citizens Bank, Nationals, PETCO, New Busch, Great American, etc.

Never noticed but 3 tiers of Luxury suite? Interesting, never noticed it when yankees were at Cleveland. Kinda like Staples center.

Remove the upper tier and they would still struggle to fill it. Shame, especially given their history:

New bullpens and upper deck for Jacobs Field. Like the Rockies and Coors Field, it looks like a missed opportunity for Cleveland. Regarding outfield seating, unless you're old Comiskey or Tiger Stadium, less is more. Cleveland had a chance to learn from the Rockies' mistake by opening things up, but it looks like that will not be the case.

How is this renovation going to increase attendance? How does this renovation improve the ballpark's aesthetics? How is it going to accomplish any of these things?

They're trying to bring in younger fans (which baseball really needs) with beer gardens and a generally more social environment. These beer gardens that have popped up in stadiums over the past few years have been successful and highly profitable.

They need to remove the upper deck in RF, place a roof on top of the second deck, put a "beer garden" on top of the roof and call it a day. What.they should have done in Denver. Open things up.
