I don't think the fish tank is that bad. I think it might work best on the tv behind the cameras. It's better than having a corporate logo. The rainbow thing though is pretty lame and sticks out as an "oh crap, we need a hr feature, lets pick something random". It also doesn't fit into the style of the place, which is filled with modern sleek architecture, then you're hit with this gaudy tacky piece of rainbow vomit. I like the place but they really need to change the home run feature. Maybe having say a neon marlin light up whenever they hit a homer would make more sense. It'd be at least better than the current feature IMO.

Love this pic because you can see the huge windows opened and exposing the downtown skyline about a mile away.

We should change the name of the thread to reflect the name of the stadium, Marlins Park. That's going to be its name until a naming rights deal is signed.

Can we get someone to change the name of this thread. The stadium is now officially called Marlins Park.

This stadium looks incredible. I love everything about the Marlins now---this stadium, the new uniforms/colors, logo, and roster. The only question is if the fans down there will show up and support this team like they should have been doing for the last decade.
I really am looking forward to seeing the fishtanks filled and how that goofy contraption in center field will look during a game. The view of left field really reminds me of Miller Park |

The Marlins were getting close to a deal a couple months ago, but after their shopping spree during the Winter Meetings, they became a more lucrative organization and the naming rights for the new stadium became much more expensive.
The Marlins have said this is temporary as they start negotiating for a new deal. |

The stadium structure itself is very modern, it kind of reminds me of the Cowboy stadium with the retractable roof, and the big screen, the aquariums rock, however I got to agree with several folks here the fountain to lavishly gayish!!

I like the name "Marlins Park". It's straight up and to the point. Sadly, I'm afraid this will only last until some corporation buys the naming rights and slaps their name on it and we then have another new ballpark with a stupid BS corporate name (I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT STAND THIS) but it's reality in today's bogus world.
Probably something like "Maroone Field" or "Southwest Airlines Park" UUUGGGHHH!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

.... I'm sorry, but I just can't get used to this look.
NOT the ballpark. I love the park, it looks fantastic. I just still hate this team's identity. WAY too many fuckin' colors. I know it's a Miami team, but c'mon! |
