I think sarit centre is the best mall which has tried to find a middle level playing ground.
i agree, Sarit has stood the test of time because its an all round mall unlike some of the new ones which are soul less and full of products that more than 3/4 cant afford, Sarit has something for everyone and that's why we have been going there since childhood.

In Kenya what criteria do they use to consider a project a mall.Is it the size, of the project coz some of the "malls" are IMO shopping centers or is coz they have more than one shop housed in the same establishment.

I could not phrase that question any better. I gave it my all but my english teacher was a Kikuyu.

A question to you:
How do you define shopping center and shopping mall; in other words, what difference do you make between the two concepts?

A shopping mall is many shops under one building e.g Westgate while a shopping centre is many shops in a small area e.g South B Shopping Centre
