Biggest show after Independence

Source: http://postnoon.com/2012/03/13/bigge...pendence/37080

Quote:
Hyderabad has been chosen to host the 11th CBD, which will be the biggest gathering that independent India has ever witnessed

Hyderabad is getting ready to host the biggest world gathering that post-independence India has ever witnessed. Some 15,000 world leaders, scientists, activists, bureaucrats and media persons from 190 countries will congregate and debate for 19 days from October 1, trying to set a legal framework for the conservation of biological diversity around the globe. There would be prime ministers and presidents from at least 13 countries leading their teams.

This would undoubtedly earn the City and Andhra Pradesh a special place in the world map both in prestige and in business. A boost to tourism would be a welcome bonus.

Why of all the cities, Hyderabad? When India offered to host the 11th CBD some time back, the CBD Secretariat had considered various other countries that wanted to host the mammoth meeting. With just two per cent of the world’s land area, India supports about 10 per cent of the world’s biological diversity, making it the seventh richest country in the world in terms of biodiversity. And, what finally clinched the issue in favour of India was AP and Hyderabad.

In India, Andhra Pradesh has the largest biodiversity — both in flora and fauna. And, Hyderabad came out winner for its world class infrastructure to hold a global conference of such magnitude. Says Dr Hampaiah Ralladoddi, chairman of Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board, “Andhra Pradesh is treated as the biodiversity capital of India. Its capital happens to have world-class conference facilities. This is a never-before opportunity to present the State and claim a special place in the world.”

There are four main reasons for Hyderabad walking away as the winner.

HICC is the best in the world. It has an internal hall measuring 6,480 square metres, which can be partitioned into six smaller halls. The pre-function foyer area itself exceeds 6,400 square metres. It can accommodate 50 or more meetings at a time.

Hyderabad has over 12,000 star hotel rooms in the City and around that makes it possible for a meeting of this size to accommodate guests. A strong hospitality sector is a great plus point when it comes to international meetings. This apart, it has 8 research institutes and scores of other study centres.

State is a proud possessor of some rare and endemic plants like Cycas beddomei, Ptero*carpus santalinus, Terminalia pallida, Syzygium alternifolium, Shorea talura, Shorea tumburgia, Psilotum nudam etc. Similarly, the Double banded or the Jerdon’s Courser, the Golden Gecko, the Slender Loris which are rare and endangered are endemic to the State.

On the flora side, we have a great advantage. Hills, a plateau, long coastline and its central geographic position make it a biological hotspot. Species like the Red Sanders are seen only in AP.

Tailend: Citizens of Hyderabad should thank their stars for having an opportunity to hear and see world leaders which will endow on us a totally different boon — the civic authorities have to spruce up and give the City a prime, prim and fit look. We all will benefit from the act. The civic authority would have otherwise never done this.

(Next: How well is the HICC prepared?)

What is CBD?

The Convention on Biological Diversity is an international treaty for the conservation of biodiversity, the sustainable use of the components of biodiversity and the equitable sharing of the benefits derived from the use of genetic resources. With 192-193 parties, the whole world except the USA. AP and India have much to gain by hosting this world show because AP faces tremendous bio-piracy.

SearchMarketMe to Introduce India-specific Internet Marketing Business Opportunity at IndiaSoft 2012

SearchMarketMe will introduce a new India-specific Internet Marketing Business Opportunity at the IndiaSoft 2012 exhibition this week at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre. SearchMarketMe's Director of Operations in India, Nikhil Bathla, will be present all three days to meet with prospective new Internet Marketing Agency Owners who are looking to a superior alternative to the "buy a job" limitations of internet marketing franchises.

Hyderabad, India and Seattle, USA (PRWEB) March 20, 2012

SearchMarketMe's growing internet marketing business opportunity has been adapted for the Indian market and will be introduced at the IndiaSoft 2012 International IT Exhibition & Conference, March 21-23, 2012 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, in Hyderabad, India.

Nikhil Bathla, SearchMarketMe's Director of Operations in India, will be present for all three days to meet with prospective new Internet Marketing Agency Owners who are looking for training and support in opening and operating their own internet marketing agencies.

Bathla, a highly experienced internet marketer and an instructor of internet marketing, states, "A significant gap exists between knowing how to perform internet marketing services, and knowing how to successfully operate a business that provides internet marketing services." He said the specific business training that SearchMarketMe provides is the bridge to prosperity for himself and his fellow Indians.

"This is what the technical people in India generally do not know," added Bathla. "Yes, they can do pieces of internet marketing, but they don't know how to make money doing it, and therefore they cannot sustain themselves and grow a legitimate business - until now, with SearchMarketMe's help. Only SearchMarketMe provides training and support for managing and growing a business that provides internet marketing services. There is significant value in this!"

"Nikhil has been instrumental in adapting this curriculum and program for the Indian market, and will be a strong representative for us at IndiaSoft 2012," said Boyd Karren, President & CEO of SearchMarketMe. "We are excited to introduce the new program in India and to work closely with Nikhil in helping entrepreneurs in India enjoy greater financial success through owning and operating a SearchMarketMe-supported internet marketing agency."

One of the unique customizations that has been prepared specifically for the Indian marketplace is the "Step-by-Step" pricing option in which Indian Agency Owners can choose to prioritize and customize the number of internet marketing channels in which they receive training and support. Indian Agency Owners can begin with any one, two, three or four of the six channels of internet marketing, and then upgrade to additional training and support in the remaining channels as they gain experience, confidence and financial ability to do so.

"If a would-be Indian Agency Owner could not afford full training and support (250,000 INR) in all six channels of internet marketing at the time he opens his business, he would still have the opportunity to receive training and support in any two channels, such as 'Websites' and 'Paid Search,' for example, for a much lower amount of 100,000 total INR," said Bathla. "And then, when ready, he could add training and support in 'Search Engine Optimization' for an additional 50,000 INR. This way, he can work his way up to receiving training and support in all six channels, and truly become a full-service internet marketing agency. There is no similar option available anywhere else in India, or the world! SearchMarketMe will generously help you build an internet marketing agency that can take you where you want to go in life."

A heavy green tax alone can bring an end to the ongoing destruction of India’s environment. For this, the economic cost of each activity has to be assessed. Delay will choke our kids. Well, it is our choice — kill them or save them
India is an ecological tinder-box, It’s not to scare you — honest facts. And, it can go off any moment. The world is not greatly better but elsewhere there are attempts to curb pollution but it’s not happening in India.

India’s failure to a legally binding commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Durban Climate change conference in November last is a signal of failure on the part of the second most populous country. Environment minister Jayanthi Natarajan told Parliament that the country hopes to cut greenhouse emission by 20-25 per cent by 2025.We are not doing charity to the world. If we want to live, this half-hearted gesture will not help.

One reason why India (Hyderabad City) was chosen for the world convention on biodiversity conference, COP 11, in October this year is because we are racing along the perilous path quicker than other nations. India has been ranked as the seventh most environmentally hazardous country in the whole world by a new ranking released recently.

The study is based on evaluation of “absolute” environment impact of 179 countries, whose data was available and has been done by researchers in Harvard, Princeton, Adelaide University and University of Singapore on January 12, 2011. Brazil was fou*nd to be the worst on environmental indicators whereas Sing*apore was the best. The United States was rated second worst and China was ranked third.

The issue is now clear. Any country which has a population pressure and fast economic development are the worst culprits in polluting this Earth. China, India, Brazil, the US are all examples. The COP 11 in Hyderabad is bound to focus on India’s wanton environment destruction and the world would demand a time-bound, legally-binding commitment to restrict the population, cut down carbon emission, cleaner energy (now over dependence on thermal is harming it) and preservation of underground water for which green cover preservation is essential.

On top of it all, melting of the Himalayan glacier if not stopped will lead to a 2 degree Celsius .Will Hyderabad set the stage for India to launch a greener India for our children? It’s a $1.20 billion-dollar question. The President, Vice-President, PM are going to be here. If they fail, the world will curse us and history will bury us.
