City all set to turn a hub of entertainment



THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram will soon turn into an entertainment hub of the country with the Union Government according Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status to the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) Film and Video Park (KFVP) at Kazhakkoottam.

Kinfra Film and Video Park, an ISO 14001: 2004 certified company, is the first Infotainment Industrial Park in the country in a beautifully landscaped area of 75 acres of land. The Park is a fully-owned subsidiary of Kinfra, a statutory body f Kerala Government.

With the SEZ status, the investors in the Park will be eligible for various tax and duty concessions and there will be no need to obtain a special licence for imports. They will get full exemption from Excise and Customs duties and a five-
year exemption from Income Tax.
Kinfra Managing Director S Ramnath said that there is also a possibility for 100-per cent foreign direct investments in the Park.

Tvm: The Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) has obtained approval from the Union Government to set up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for IT / ITeS at the Kinfra Film and Video Park at Kazhakuttam. The Kinfra Film and Video Park, the first Infotainment Industrial Park in the country, is strategically located between Technopark and the proposed Technocity project on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram.

According to a communiqué from Kinfra, the investors in the park will be eligible for various tax and duty concessions and there will be no need for a special licence for imports. They will get full exemption from excise and customs duties and a five-year exemption from income tax. There is a possibility for 100 per cent foreign direct investments in the park.

The Kinfra SEZ was initially notified in 2007 but recently Kinfra had requested for change of sector from IT - Animation & Gaming to IT / ITeES. Kinfra had stated that due to global recession, the animation and gaming sector could not perform to the expected levels despite substantial investments for providing infrastructure and the required ambiance.

Set in a beautifully landscaped area of 75 acres of land, the Kinfra Film and Video Park is a fully owned subsidiary company of Kinfra, a statutory body of Government of Kerala aimed at developing industrial infrastructure in the State. Kinfra Film and Video Park was the first SEZ for Animation and Gaming in India, established to promote the animation and gaming industry and studios.

Kinfra has so far established 20 industrial parks across the State and these include the International Apparel Park and the Film & Video Park in Trivandrum and the Export Promotion Industrial Park in Kochi. These apart, it has set up integrated infrastructure development centres to cater to the small-scale industries sector.

Lol, what more can we expect from the PWD? Anyways, what counts is not the shoddy exterior finishing but the blue-chip MNC inside the building.

I don't believe it is PWD.

They don't have such expertise.

It might be some private builders belonging to Trivandrum.

The PWD doesn't build anything directly, they contract everything out. When I said PWD, I meant the overall philosophy among Government agencies towards projects. The notable exceptions being Technopark and, possibly, VISL.
