Egypt to restore Alexandria’s historic synagogue

Quote:
Authorities in Alexandria are preparing plans to restore the Egyptian city's historic synagogue.

The 150-year-old Eliyahu Hanavi synagogue on Nabi Daniel Street is among the most important Jewish sites in Egypt and the only one in Alexandria, according to an article in the English edition of the Egyptian newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Cairo University’s Center for Antiquities and Environment Studies is in charge of the project, along with the restoration of the other 10 Jewish historical sites scattered throughout Egypt.

The synagogue seats about 700 and houses 30 Torah scrolls brought there after the city’s other synagogues closed. Alexandria’s Jewish community once numbered 50,000 but is now estimated at below 50, according to The Associated Press.

A spokesman for the university told reporters the Jewish sites are considered “part of Egypt’s heritage.”

Fayoum is lower Egypt right??

Egypt's Amer Group wins bid for Fayoum project

Quote:
CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian real estate firm Amer Group won a bid for a 2.8 million square metre plot of land south of the capital, Cairo, it said on Sunday, adding a new project to the newly listed firm's expanding list.

The firm, whose IPO in November was heavily oversubscribed, was awarded the plot by Egypt's Tourism Development Authority, it said in a statement.

Amer, which sells holiday homes on Egypt's coasts and elsewhere, will develop the plot of land in Fayoum, a city south of Cairo, in a bid to boost tourism in the area, the firm said.

The firm told Reuters in an interview in October it sees enough untouched land along Egypt's coasts and in its deserts for another 20 of its residential and commercial projects.

Shares in the property conglomerate, which owns hotels, restaurants, malls, a catering firm, a utilities company and other businesses, were unchanged in early trade, while the benchmark index was up 0.9 percent.

If I'm not mistaken, they're searching about for items in general but concentrating in roman's stuff because that what alexandria stand out for for them.

Let just hope they don't take the stuff and go ... well that IF they find anything

As i am studying history... Alexandria biggest library posseds Pythagore, Thales , Euclid, Aristotle scripts. Greek scholastic had more influence on our history than the great empire of Rome.

Exactly, Greece had much more influence on Alexandria than Rome.

2 new hospitals in Alexandria. I hope they are available for lower class too!

Looking good! These hospitals are one of the first planned Public Private Partnership (PPP) maternity hospitals projects in Egypt.

It looks Alright at least better than most universities campuses in Egypt I'm not sure why they're complaining in the comments.
