stained with politics or not? you decide

Arroyo father’s name to be dropped from Pampanga airport

Inquirer Central Luzon
8:14 pm | Sunday, February 19th, 2012

CLARK FREEPORT, Philippines—It is Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) no more.

The name of the country’s ninth president would be dropped from the airport in this economic zone and would be used instead in a soon-to-rise terminal for passengers served by international and domestic budget airlines, the head of the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) said.

In dropping the name of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s father, the airport would revert to its original name—Clark International Airport (CIA)—thus needing no executive order, congressional fiat or resolution from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, said Victor Jose Luciano, CIAC president and chief executive officer. He said the name comes with a new corporate logo.

As a Capampangan, I believe it was right to name the premier airport of the province and the region from one of the greatest individuals Pampanga has ever produced: Diosdado Macapagal.

We have been accustomed to saying "DMIA", I dunno why stripping off the name was of particular importance.

With Luciano's faulty logic, then NAIA's name should also be reverted back to Manila International Airport.

The Philippine government could change NAIA's name come 2016 I guess.

Did the nickname "The Incorruptible" help in considering DMIA dropping?

Is the phrase "land reform" causing allergy to the present admin?

Those were the descriptive words that our teachers taught us in school when remembering Pres. Diosdado Macapagal!

Kapag na legalize na ang divorce and same sex marriage ay pwede na magpakasal si Aquino kay Mar Roxas.

President D. Macapagal was a Philippine President in his own right, and his merits should be set apart from that of his daughter's.

Which brings to my mind that accord signed by PNoy with the MILF. PNoy really takes after his daddy-o on this one; seems more beholden to foreigners. Let's have a blast from the past. Who was the whistle blower of the Jabidah Commandos and the subsequent Jabidah Massacre to the Senate and the Media? None other than Daddy-o, Benigno Aquino Jr.

Most historians had agreed that the Jabidah Massacre was the fuse which ignited the Moro wars for decades to come. The Jabidah Commandos were elite forces trained specifically for the invasion and capture of Sabah. It was started first under President Diosdado Macapagal and then under President Ferdinand Marcos, with the code name Operation Merdeka. Now with Ninoy's whistle blowing antics, seems like Daddy-o is more beholden to Malaysia than the Philippines.
