No, no, Cosmo is the one that's currently up at the moment, and I think Cosmo will own Phase two too, not sure who will operate the blue building

I'm wondering how drastic of an alteration could be made to the design in just a month considering the council want a completely different floorplate shape etc. Roll on the end of Feb I guess.

Considering they came back with the second design quite soon after the original got slammed, I think we could expect something drastic. There's something about a tower with a triangular footprint here that just doesn't site very easy with me. I had no issue with the shape of the other two designs except they were too broad/ not tall enough.

That is true, I think it was only about 2 months for the previous redesign. I think triangular could work aesthetically but I really don't think it would work in practice (so K4 won't even go there) as it would be difficult to squeeze in the developers room requirements without going against planning advice and making the design taller. The architect is obviously trying to avoid taking up too much courtyard space and so an equilateral/toblerone effect would not be considered. We then come back to a broad back side approach which would be a inefficient use of space in the same vain as circular office floorplates.
I feel sorry for K4 on this one as obviously it's not nice to kept getting your designs thrown back, but at the same time they have been selected for a very difficult site. |

Im just hoping the resubmission isn't that it will be a car park in the middle that you posted Reiss
I think the redesign will be slimmer and just break the 100m mark, I think they will add a floor on to the outside edge of the existing fire station to get the extra rooms they will lose from making the tower shorter. Guess we will have to wait though! not long left though |

May be worth keeping an eye on this over the next few days. No new documents yet but the planning description has changed and the date for public comments has been extended. Looks like it's 23 storeys now.

Planning committee of such limited vision. We can all see what changes needed to be made and they've just completely gone in the opposite direction. Gateway my ass. Another mediocre half assed box. Welcome to mid rise Birmingham shambolic

Documents are up - they've adjusted the positioning of the tower so that it is now completely perpendicular to the original plan. The tower also looks noticeably shorter but remains roughly the same width as before, by the looks of it.
It looks even more bland than the other proposals as well. Sadly, I think this design may give what the planning committee are looking for....
