For as large as this building is, it sure doesn't get much attention.

Thanks for the updates guys! It's great infill already even without the towers. It'll be awesome when the towers are formed.

Looks like this building has a name : Via6
http://www.djc.com/news/re/12037719.html Pine Street Group renames project Via6 By JOURNAL STAFF Pine Street Group Limited Liability Co. has a new name for its apartment complex at Sixth and Lenora: Via6. GGLO designed the $200 million project and Magnusson Klemencic is the structural engineer. General contractor Lease Crutcher Lewis says construction is ahead of schedule. Construction began last spring. About 100 workers are on site now, and there will be up to 350 people there this summer. Topping out is scheduled for June. Pre-leasing starts in the fall and residents can move in about a year from now. Pine Street Group's Matt Griffin said the new name reflects the location at the crossroads of Belltown, Denny Triangle and South Lake Union. Via6 is one structure with two 24-story towers connected by a six-story base. Bill Gormley of Lewis said the first floor and mezzanine were the most complex part of construction due to a number of structural elements, a garage entrance and different floor elevations for building systems. With that done, crews now are building one floor a week and installing the curtain wall. The towers will have different materials on their facades. Lighting, canopies and landscaping will help break up the scale of the half-block project. There will be 16,000 square feet of retail, with tenants that may include a bicycle club with bike storage and showers for commuters. That deal is moving forward but not final, Griffin said. The project is owned by Multi-Employer Property Trust and the Canada Pension Plan. Bentall Kennedy advises both. |

Maybe Bond or someone can add the new (Via6) name to the thread title.

A bicycle club with storage and showers for commuters. How interesting. I like the idea. Promotes fitness.

I drove past Via6 yesterday and snapped a couple of pictures from my iPhone, I apologize for the poor quality.
As you can notice, the team is working past the base floors and are now constructing the twin tower portion of this project. It might be hard to see, but I zoomed into the siding being added to the 2nd floor. I am looking forward to watching this building come together over the next few months. Don't you just love how they incorporated the Value Inn into the base? Beautiful rock work will look great with the towers....kinda like a McMansion over on the east side. *L*
Just teasing...bull dose it!

I agree. Sure the motel kind of sucks but at least it's still doing well and isn't an empty lot. I think the comparison between old drive in motel and large residential building is pretty fascinating, especially since the MOTEL sign faces the new building lol!

I think Starbucks should open a new concept store in this project. They will only serve their Via Instant Coffees.

I suggested the Kings Inn. Wrong suggestion, this Kings Inn. He said he could hear screaming at all hours and strangers knocking on his door throughout the night. (He went to the Mayflower for the rest of his Seattle visit) Never tell your friends to stay at the Kings Inn.
