Hope so. Would be good to at last see some rentals in that area. I think it would make a surprisingly big difference to the city centre if these units were filled.

Just looked on the planing portal and all I could find was something about a Casino"Genting Casinos UK Ltd". App was received at the end of July But it says the application is invalid.

Edit: found a picture on page 92 of the SPP construction thread, it was to be a Circus Casino, which is/was a Genting brand. Last edited by Stab.; August 19th, 2011 at 01:50 PM. |

I have mates who live there. It's ok- no better or worse than other flats in town. Take the views out of it though you an average city centre flat. It also appears to be full of Chinese students.

But it's the views thy make it. That's what makes it better than other apartment schemes

I've grown to like St Pauls from the outside but can't help but think that the cladding used has been a missed opportunity to create a really good looking landmark. This could be revised in coming years but it's not likely to happen for a good 30 years I'd have thought. Would be nice to have another residential or mixed use tower in the city not too far away which offers a touch nicer interior and room sizes plus better looking exterior but when will that really happen? I suppose with Sevenstone that was on the cards, but I suspect the tower has been taken away. It's the retail offering that we need drastically improving anyway. |

The interiors probably haven't changed radically (apart from layout issues) - they still have white painted walls and wooden floors and grey woollen carpets and solid wooden doors and pretty nice tiling in the bathrooms. Sure, the wardrobe is a bit ricketty and the white goods aren't what was expected, I also have a nice modern art plumbing feature in my very long canoe storage area... but I'm not really sure how the interiors could be that much better. Maybe I should have got gold painted walls and diamond tiling in the bathroom...
I don't know if that's better or worse than other schemes, as I've not experienced other schemes. The views really aren't all that; you can get pretty bored of watching the trams go by after about the 5,000th time. My blinds are closed most of the time because of the fact that too much light (and glare and heat) comes in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The single key thing..? Location, location, location. |

I don't think I'd ever get bored of the views tbh.

How can you say that? The views across the centre and beyond are the finest to be had in the city....although the views from the top of Park Hill are pretty special too.
You could get bored of any view or take it for granted if you see it every day I guess, even the most famous vistas in the world like the Manhattan skyline or Sydney Harbour. That doesn't make them any less spectacular though. |

Yeah, familiarity. Ooh, a tram... a train pulling into the station, McDonald's, a tram going the other way, a train leaving the station, the back of Spearmint Rhino's.
I do get pleasure from watching people in huge car queues, slowly heading home... a kind of shameful schadenfreude. |

I love being able to observe a city from a high point, even looking onto a train station or a road is better than the back of someone else's house like 90% of British homes

Agree with Kyle. Also, you've got an apartment in the wrong side of the building!!!

That's possibly true, but you can agree with Kyle all you want... it doesn't make you correct, and you're not
as you're relaying what you think would be the case, whereas I'm informing you what is the case.

I’ve lived and been in quite a few flats in Sheffield and in my view the award for the nicest interiors and fittings belongs to the Napier Street development. The view on the other hand isn’t so cracking, Waitrose car park isn’t the most entertaining.
I love the view from St Pauls but kind of agree with Hippo as i suspect when you see it each and everyday it gets less special. I also expected more from these flats interior wise but despite all the concerns I actually quite like the building and think it has had a really positive impact on the cityscape. |
