Indeed. Yet I think it is the expense that contributes to the isolation and controlled influx of tourists in Batanes.

I don't think the a318 is capable of STOL since the power to weight ratio most likely resembles that of the a320.

Most likely, turboprops still rule the STOL runways. How about CRJs?

For the newest season of Air Crash Investigations/Mayday, there were 5-10 seconds of fame of PAL's A320 taking off at NAIA. I've seen the sequence in two of its episodes.

Asian Spirit resurrected! The only 4 engine 3 on 3 seating jet that can land in 1000m runways! It did even flew to Caticlan before until CAAP displaced the threshholds and allowed only turbo-props. The best comfort next to the airbus. Just watch out for the fares as they can not do LCC type pricing on this. I shelled out P5000 on my last ride - one way.

BAe 146s- all are leased, as no new production anymore..

Oh, BAE also stands for Bring Another Engine - even with the 4 engines, the plane, while being one of the best re: STOL, is known as the best hanger queen ..

BAe is also flown in Indonesia, for the small airports, like Jayapura.

PAL to fly Bali!
Starts A320 flight by April

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will start offering direct flights to Bali, Indonesia in March, President Jaime Bautista said at the opening of the 19th Travel Tour Expo 2012 recently.

“We are looking at the possibility of flying to Bali...If we get all the permits within the month, we should be able to start flying end of March or early April. We will only fly three times a week because that is part of developing the market.”

An Airbus 320 aircraft will be used for the flights that will land directly at the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport from Manila. This will be the second airport in Indonesia where PAL is flying into whose flight is code-shared with Garuda Airlines. The airline currently offers daily flights to Jakarta.

Bautista said offering direct flights to Bali will enable the airline to maximize the use of its planes.

“There is clamor for it already. It will allow us to increase utilization of our planes because when we fly to Bali, we will fly at night because that is the time when our planes are parked in Manila. That will help us raise our revenues,” he said.

The airline is also on the final planning stage of connecting Davao to Singapore and Hong Kong on a midnight run also on the same A320 aircraft.

The Travel Tour Expo is an annual travel and tourism event organized by the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) to showcase domestic and international products and services in the tourism sector. - with reports from the Philippine Star.

Since Panglao is still under feasibility study why don't they Change first to [TAG] Tagbilaran Airport thread since most discussion in that thread(Panglao) is just nothing but same issues over and over make a Panglao Thread if it is already in operation for now let somebody make the Fresh TAG deserved!.if there is any breaking News about that project then insert it to TAG Thread.

I was thinking when I was a kid if these are possible for RCs? Since most of the time, I see only propeller-driven RCs. Then when I saw this, I said...HWOW!!! It is possible! Now I have the urge to save up and buy this as my luxury item or lujo!

^ Nice shot. Singapore Airlines has created a section on their website, a tribute to the Boeing 747. I don't remember exactly, but the last SQ Boeing 747 passenger service is approaching. They have retired all their Boeing 744 from their fleet after this last revenue flight to HK. SIN-HK-SIN with a big party prior to departure flight both in SIN and in HK and it will include a tour. After this last passenger 744 flight, SQ will have a passenger fleet consisting mainly of Boeing 777 variants, A330s, a couple of A345s, and A380s. They are also going to start their new Low Cost Carrier - Long Haul called "Scoot Airlines" this coming April 2012.

^ CEB Terminal. That's a really great design. When will this be realised?
