By Metro population, Montreal is expected to hit 4M by the end of the year, so 500K larger than Metro Seattle. By city proper, Montreal is twice the size of Seattle.

Time out, you shan't succeed at having me see it otherwise:

You see, many more attributes other than a city's population, its surface area, or even its vertically-aspiring attributes are what make it large.

Besides, Montreal still bears no indication of any prospect at its overcoming its once-upon-a-time glory ... maybe looking at Detroit and New Orleans that a couple of its own citizens sired is indicative, right

Pittsburgh (my own work). Colored lines are metro, light blue and green are light rail/trolley, dashed gray lines are commuter/regional rail, thick dashed purple lines are funiculars (some to be reinstated). Ideas for this plan come from the 1925 subway plan and input from many other people and my own research.

Dan, that is FANTASTIC. So much work and effort has gone into that and it really shows. Superb!

1331Massi, I LOVE the interchanges in your final one, the overlapping circles area great idea, though I must admit that I find them a little too large after 2 or 3. Still a wonderful idea though!

The Pittsburgh map looks fantastic. An incredibly professional effort.

Actually, I didn't make any of those, but trust me, mine will (I am currently drawing one, I have the 20th draft in my pocket) will be pretty similar.

We have a track currently being used for commuter train that passes under Mount Royal, which is not being used by freight trains due to poor tunnel ventilation. The trains are all electric and this was supposed to be line 3 of the metro. I never understood why we didn't take advantage of this and increase frequency and make it part of the subway. There are also unused tracks in Old Montreal, though they will soon (God knows when) be used by trams. The metro could so easily be expanded without even paying for new tracks, just the stations. Also, we're building a dedicated commuter rail track to the West Island that will just brush the airport, without stopping. There's you airport link. 90 trains per day will use it, and it doesn't cost that much to put electric wires... My map will include most of this.

Once upon a time, all those harbour, dockland tracks had catenary. The creation of Line 3 yielded to that of Line 4 for Expo '67 and its tourism. Nothing's been decided on either the airport or adjacent commuter rail line; altogether, it's little more than older-than-40-year-old talk

The prospect of bringing back Pittsburgh's funiculars teases me

I make a new fantasy map. Jakarta MRT fantasy map. Actually Jakarta have a BRT line, but I'd like if Jakarta have a MRT by train not by bus.

Maybe later I'll post every line in satellite view so you can see the real route.

That's a great map. I love the fonts you've used too.

You have a good eye for aesthetics.

Anyone who can draw a feasible fantasy map for Tokyo deserves a beer (that's officially a challenge).

For my fantasy subway system in the Mushroom Kingdom, construction of the Line 11 extension to Maple Ridge will begin in March, with groundbreaking set for March 5.

The blue dots denote transfer stations, while the yellow dots are immediary stations. Not all of the stations are shown on this map.

--------
I mentioned earlier on this thread that I also have diagrams of a fantasy LRT system for Tampa, FL, USA. I intended to expand these maps, but that is currently on the back burner. One of the routes I have to correct.
