How can they ever hope to sell enough of these apartments to build this thing when there are already so many in Dubai and the whole world is an economic basket case?

Just only noticed this. that's an auwfull long core they have there, or am I wrong?

I don't know if I should like the design or not, It's a giant monolith and in that way I kinda like it. I like the open space in the middle. Is it gonna be some sort of giant patio where people can sit on? I fear it's gonne become a giant air gap where winds are free at play.

Anyway, It's better then what they did to marina...

Exept for Infinity, that's the only tower that's good in that area.

On such a massive site, I expect hundreds of builders, but there are not so much builders in the pics. So it's logical that it takes so long.

Will it be a concrete structure right up to level 73 or will it swap to a steel frame (and therefore faster build) with concrete core at some point?

Only the 'bridge' part on top will be made out of steel, and the consultants and contractors are still discussing how to build it, pieve by piece on top or assembled on the ground and lifted up on top.

That would something really impressive to see

I think they could assemble it by lifting smaller blocks built on ground and then add them to the main structure.

I don't mean the entire top section, but part of it. Afterall the bridge at Petronas was also build on the ground and lifted in place, and the same contractor (Eversendai) is involved here as well.
