I've always thought that separate part of BHS was a bit strange,

I wonder if this may have started the rumour of BHS closing?

That's great that they are staying on the same street, as I was saying just yesterday, maybe Scottish widows are working behind for this phase.. Maybe we could see Bhs get a refit too, they are rolling out new branding.

Some news for Redditch,

Looks like work has begun on the "Teardrop Site" which part of it will house Sainsburys petrol station, allowing them to expand their current store on the Abbey Retail Park. Site is being cleared at the moment.

New jobs to be created as Redditch M&S store undergoes revamp

MARKS & Spencer has begun a revamp of its store in Redditch, creating 15 new jobs for the town.

The store improvements will include a brand new M&S Café, in-store bakery, new customer changing rooms, updated food hall and clothing displays.

The new 50-seat M&S Café will offer customers a wide choice of hot and cold refreshments including Fairtrade tea and coffee served by specially trained baristas. A selection of sandwiches, hand-made baguettes, pastries and cakes will also be available.

The changes will complement the store’s existing offer, with a wider range of fashions for the whole family including the addition of the popular women’s collection, per una.

The new look food hall will feature a brand new in-store bakery making fresh breads and pastries each day as well as quality products, including ready meals, fresh produce, sandwiches, salads, snacks and a range of wines and champagne.

Throughout the store changes, customer disruption will be kept to a minimum and the store will continue to trade as normal.

Amanda Husband, Marks & Spencer Redditch store manager, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing an updated store to Redditch and can’t wait for our shoppers to benefit from the improvements, especially our brand new M&S Café. “There are some fantastic new features and we hope the changes will be a big hit when they are unveiled later this year.”

Pets at Home to open in the Dreams unit at Stetchford Retail Park. On that planning app it also says that the Matalan unit is now vacant, does anyone live or go past this area to confirm?

The expansion of Northampton-based budget retailer 99p Stores is set to continue with three new store openings.

A new £350,000 Family Bargains store, part of the group which sells "bigger ticket" value items, is to open on Friday (24 February) in Stockport.

It follows a 4,660 sq ft Family Bargains store which opened in Birmingham on Monday (20 February).

The retailer has plans to open ten new stores in the West Midlands this year, which will create 350 jobs, it said.

99p Stores is also set to open its 178th store in March with an 8,500 sq ft, £250,000 shop in Middlesbrough, creating 35 jobs.

Managing director Hussein Lalani said: "The value genie is now well and truly out of the bottle and there is no putting it back in."

The company aims to have 600 stores in the next decade, with sales of more than £300m and 5,000 employees.

Peacocks' sale to Edinburgh Woollen Mill sees 224 stores close - 3,100 jobs to go

More than 3,000 jobs were lost today after ailing fashion chain Peacocks was sold out of administration.

The deal with Edinburgh Woollen Mill will save 388 shops and more than 6,000 jobs but administrators from KPMG said it had been forced to close 224 stores with immediate effect, leading to 3,100 redundancies.

Chris Laverty, joint administrator at KPMG, said: "Today's deal ensures the continued trading of a well-known name on the high street.

"While it is unfortunate that redundancies have been necessary, we are pleased that we have been able to preserve the majority of the business and jobs."

A shame for the Merry Hill one, also the one in Sutton Coldfield opened recently as it over took the Au Natural store, also St Andrews has only been open for a few months. This also looks like they won't be opening in the Swan Centre

The Peacocks situation is a travesty for a business that was actually profitable. They just ballsed up the debt conditions in the buy out years ago.

Work going on inside the unit on the end of the block with the Oasis Market on, facing Priory Square, Big Johns put in a app last year, it also was approved last year so that could be it.
