I know this shot has been done to death at this stage but here's another one.

Really love that bridge. It's a real pity that Anglo dump is still there in the background to spoil the view. Please someone finish it!

Down in Dublin last week, and the convention centre really looks awesome at night with the lighting- it also looks well during the day. Still scratching my head as to how this building was shortlisted for this year's Carbuncle cup.

I was at the 'Taste of Christmas' event at the Convention Centre last week. The building is amazing inside.

I took this picture (before all the snow)

The view from the rooftop bar is particularly impressive.

These aerial photographs (on this thread and the others) are brilliant! Thanks for sharing them.

Wow, that aerial photo is cool. Apparently a small park/garden has been created at the back of the convention centre where the hotel was due to go. I guess that means that's the end of it for now. Does anyone else have any more on this? The park at the side of the building (where the linear park was supposed to go) is also being landscaped, but i guess the 'floating gardens' idea has been shelved. Does anyone have any pictures? If I'm down that way myself, I'll see if I can get some.

Thanks Craig - very professional looking photos ! I'm glad they've done something about the area to the side of the convention centre too along the canal. That area was a disgrace

Yeah they are building a park along side the canal on both sides. Good progress on it when I saw it last week.

State has Convention Centre takeover plan

Friday February 24 2012

THE high-profile National Convention Centre in Dublin could be taken over by the State if its owners go bust.

The Dail Public Accounts Committee (PAC) heard yesterday that there were contingency plans in case Treasury Holdings loses ownership of the development.

The centre is a public-private partnership, with the State providing €40m in 2010.

Treasury is currently locked in a court battle with NAMA, which wants to place it in receivership.

NAMA has called Treasury -- controlled by developers Johnny Ronan and Richard Barrett -- "hopelessly insolvent" and TDs questioned whether the court battle will have an effect on the State's contribution to the centre.

Office of Public Works chairwoman Clare McGrath said the centre -- which last year hosted a concert held for Queen Elizabeth, as well as the IFTA awards last month -- is performing well and is a valuable asset.

But she said the contract signed by the OPW is "robust" and contains a "step-in" clause for the State.
