Bushehr N. Plant to Add 1,000MW to National Grid Soon
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's first nuclear power plant in the Southern port city of Bushehr will add 1,000 megawatts of electricity to the national grid in the near future.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereidoun Abbasi said 1,000 MW electricity generated from nuclear power plant would join the national grid in coming months.

He said 700MW nuclear power joined the national grid mid February, adding different tests would be made during the process and the country would get access to the full nuclear power after tests are conducted successfully.

Bushehr Nuclear Plant To Be Started Up As Planned

Chief of Russia’s Federal Atomic Agency Rosatom Sergei Kirilenko has claimed that the Bushehr plant will be launched as planned.
Commenting on Iran’s announcement that all work on the site would be finished by March 20, Kirienko said that there were “no interim terms”. “There is one official date. We aren’t discussing any other timelines,” he said, stressing that everything was going according to the schedule.

Iran capable of building pool-type nuclear reactors: AEOI head

Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran says the country is capable of designing and building pool-type nuclear reactors under the supervision of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

“Pool reactors are similar to Tehran [Research] Reactor which has a capacity of 5 megawatts (MW) [of electricity] and we are planning to build a similar reactor with a capacity of up to 10 MW in the country,” Fereydoun Abbasi said on Saturday.

The official stated that the IAEA inspectors will oversee different phases of the designing and construction process as well as the location of the reactor and Iran will do nothing without prior coordination with IAEA.

“We are capable of designing and building pool reactors in the country because the main problem was the production of fuel plates which our fuel [production] complexes are currently producing,” Abbasi noted.

Elsewhere in his remarks the official said, “Since the Russian contractor of Bushehr nuclear power plant has worked properly [on the project] in recent years and they have shown their resolve to finish Bushehr power plan with quality, we are willing to work with them on several more power plants.”

Abbasi went on to say that Bushehr nuclear power plant has already reached 75 percent of its capacity, expressing hope that the power plant will approach its final capacity of 1,000 MW in late May.

Iran Stresses Continued N. Power Plant Cooperation with Russia
TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereidoun Abbasi underlined Tehran's continued cooperation with Moscow in the nuclear field, adding that Russia is likely to play a role in the construction of other nuclear power plants in Iran.

"Since the Russian contractor of Bushehr nuclear power plant has worked properly [on the project] in recent years and they have shown their resolve to finish Bushehr power plan with quality, we are willing to work with them on several more power plants," Abbasi said.

He went on to say that Bushehr nuclear power plant has already reached 75 percent of its capacity, expressing the hope that the power plant will approach its final capacity of 1,000 MW in late May.

Official: Bushehr N. Plant Nearing Full Power Generation Capacity
TEHRAN (FNA)- An official in charge of the construction of Iran's first nuclear power plant in the Southern port city of Bushehr announced that the plant is now working with 75% of its full capacity, adding that Russia will deliver control of the facility to Iran in early autumn.

"At present, Bushehr nuclear power plant is working at 75% of its capacity and is producing 720-730MW of electricity," Bushehr Project Manager Mahmoud Jafari said on Sunday.

He said that the plant will reach its 100% power generation capacity in the Iranian month of Khordad (May 21-June 21), but underlined that this would not mean a full inauguration of the plant "since several tests should be done at that phase".

Jafari said that based on the timetable, the Russian contractor, Atomstroyexport, will temporarily hand over control of the plant to Iran in early autumn and Iranian experts will operate the power plant from then on.

finally...

Atomic republic: Iran's Bushehr power plant fully operational

ran’s first nuclear power plant is now operating at full capacity. The unique project demanded equipment and buildings originally made by Germany to be refitted for Russian nuclear technology. *"The reactor of Bushehr nuclear power plant’s Unit 1 was brought up to 100 per cent of its projected capacity at 18:47 local time on August 30," Atomstroyexport, an engineering company within Russia’s Rosatom, said Friday.

It took over 40 years to build and launch Bushehr, which Iran now views as the symbol of its nuclear program. Before 1979's Islamic Revolution, construction of the facility had been led by Germany’s Siemens AG. As Berlin joined the American embargo on imports to the Persian country in 1980, Siemens was prompted to quit the project.

This rendered the task, which Atomstroyexport took over in 1998, unique. The company reworked over 12,000 tons of German equipment to make it compatible with Russia’s nuclear technology. The facility also had to be redesigned so that a Russian-made reactor would fit.

The plant, near the Gulf city of Bushehr in the country’s southwest, was connected to Iran’s electricity grid in September 2011. Iran insists that electricity generation is the core reason for the development of nuclear power plants.

While Iran’s opponents accuse it of clandestinely seeking to build nuclear weapons, nuclear inspectors do not regard Bushehr as a major proliferation threat. Under its contract of operation, the plant's spent fuel is repatriated to Russia and thus cannot be processed into weapons-grade plutonium.

Thursday, the International Atomic Energy Agency issued a fresh report accusing Iran of doubling the number of uranium enrichment centrifuges at its underground Fordow site. The report was slammed by Iran as a political stunt orchestrated by Western governments.

Tehran has announced plans to build a second unit at Bushehr, but Russian authorities say they have not yet been involved in talks over the project. Relations between the two countries have cooled recently over a 2010 arms embargo adopted against Tehran by the UN Security Council.

The embargo forced Moscow to back out of an $800 million contract with Iran that would have provided S-300 surface-to-air missile systems. The country said it would compensate Iran the $166.8 million advanced payment.

But in April 2011, Tehran filed a lawsuit at the International Court of Justice in Geneva, seeking almost $4 billion in damages.

This August, a Kremlin source said that if the suit is not retracted, Tehran “will have to sort out its nuclear issues in the international arena on its own.”

Iran says sole nuclear plant at ‘full capacity’

Iran’s sole nuclear power plant is now linked to the national energy grid at full capacity after having to be taken off-line for two months, the Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation said on Wednesday.

“After a two-month shutdown needed to check the fuel and the reactor, the Bushehr power plant was linked to the national grid on Saturday and reached its full capacity of 1,000 megawatts” on Tuesday, said Abbasi Davani.
