Zest Air acquires 10th Airbus

MANILA, Philippines – Zest Air received delivery of its 10th Airbus (A-320) this month hiking their fleet to a total of 10 airbuses and 3 MA-60s. The airline is acquiring two more A-320s within the year.

Alfredo Yao, president and CEO of Zest Airways, Inc., said that increased business and the potential for more growth is the reason they are building up their fleet.

Yao said they’ve had a good start this year citing January 2012 figures doubling their loads on both domestic and international passenger air traffic compared with the same period last year.

“Our total passengers for our domestic flights this January is 224,723 compared to 150,091 in January last year, while for our international flights we had 35,638 passengers versus 15,990,” said Yao, a former special envoy to China for tourism and cooperation.

Zest Air’s seat allocation also increased to 300,560 from 215,488 for domestic and to 44,340 from 17,352 for international compared to the same period last year.

“We expect passenger traffic this summer season to be good as in previous years. This is the time of the year when most people travel to tourist destinations for their vacations. There will be a downtrend during the rainy months of June to October but traffic will pick up once again during the latter part of October,” said Yao.

Airline executives attribute Zest Air’s increase in business primarily to the vision and direction of Yao.

Butch Rodriguez, SVP-commercial and external affairs group, also cited an increasing demand for air travel and customer service as contributing factors.

“More and more Filipinos are discovering the convenience of air travel for their business and leisure travel at affordable prices. The way we provide service to our passengers is another reason for our substantial increase in patronage from air travelers,” Rodriguez said.

The veteran airline executive also announced that they will be launching scheduled flights to Incheon, Korea and Shanghai, China from Manila this coming June 2012 and also direct flights from Manila to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in October.

Zest Air is also launching Clark-HK, Clark-Bangkok and Clark-Singapore flights during the last quarter of 2012.

Airphil Express continues 2012 expansion with launch of 4 new routes

MANILA, Philippines – Airphil Express is making Clark one of its major hubs in its on-going expansion program this year. Starting March 29 this year, the country’s fastest-growing budget carrier is launching four new routes from the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) in Clark to Cebu, Davao, Kalibo, Aklan and Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan. This will increase to 32 Airphil Express’s total domestic destinations.

“With its highly improved road network and increasing flights, Clark is setting out to become a natural entry point to major tourist destinations and a major hub for business and tourism in the country,” says Alfredo Herrera, senior vice president for sales and marketing of Airphil Express.

Herrera said that by operating out of Clark, Airphil Express would be able to target emerging population centers in Pampanga and Central Luzon. “It goes hand in hand with our commitment to help spur growth for the country’s economy via the promotion of local tourism in the area,” he adds.

The new routes would kick off under this new flight schedule – Clark to Cebu route (v.v.) every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday; Clark to Davao route (v.v.) every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; Clark to Kalibo route (v.v.) every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday; and Clark to Puerto Princesa route (v.v.) every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

How true is it that APX will also field their airbus to Cebu from Pagadian by March 22, yet Ozamiz is starting later April 19. There was a tweet there to Bemboi from APX. Vanilla already mentioned 5j will deploy airbus and its confirmed on the booking, will be an A319. If true, will be now an all airbus for Ozamiz and Pagadian to Cebu and Manila. Will this sustain? Or simply shipping will suffer more passenger decline. Luckily Astig is taking momentos of the turboprops! Nice!

The only way to check if A320 will indeed be deployed earlier than april 19 iis to make an onlinebooking for Pag-Cebu.
Thats what i did for Ozamiz to verify the start of A320 flights of ApX for cebu. Its already indicated on April 19 flights onward

Cebu Pacific holds China, Taiwan 'seat sale'

MANILA, Philippines - Cebu Pacific is holding 3-day "seat sale" for 7 destinations in China and Taiwan starting tomorrow (February 28).

Passengers can buy tickets for travel from May 1 to July 31, 2012.

Passengers can buy P688 seats from Clark to Hong Kong or Macau, and P1,088 seats from Manila to Hong Kong, Macau, Taipei or Guangzhou; and from Cebu to Hong Kong

Also available are P1,088 seats from Kalibo (Boracay) to Hong Kong and from Manila to Xiamen, two of Cebu Pacific's newest international routes which will be launched on March 23.

The airline is also offering P1,888 seats from Manila to Beijing or Shanghai.

"CEB operates approximately 160 weekly flights between the Philippines and Greater China and Taiwan. We will continue to offer our trademark low fares and provide easy accessibility so more Chinese and Taiwanese tourists can explore the Philippines’ top beach and leisure destinations,” said Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and distribution.

At the same time, Cebu Pacific is also holding a domestic seat sale starting tomorrow. The travel period will be from April 1 to June 30, 2012.

Cebu Pacific is offering P188 seats from Cagayan de Oro to Davao or Iloilo; from Cebu to Kalibo, Iloilo, Ozamiz, Tacloban, Dumaguete, or Bacolod; and, from Zamboanga to Tawi-Tawi.

There are also P288 seats from Davao to Zamboanga, and from Cebu to Butuan, Clark, Dipolog, General Santos, Legazpi, Pagadian, Puerto Princesa, Siargao, Surigao or Zamboanga.

Yes, Jeff, tried it too. Still a q400, Im a fan of this turboprop! I often see their pre-delivery flights, fresh from the paint job.
