It's just a box (one that contains a lot of overpriced student apartments). The architecture of Sydney Hall is rather domineering in its surroundings. The proportions are cumbersome and from the side it looks like it's about to swallow the poor ol' Dinky Dome. The choice of color and corrugated metal for the exterior is rather odd, considering there isn't a single building like that anywhere in that neighborhood, which is mostly brick and stone.

The Uptown Lofts and Apartments were on the block south of the block my old house is and the 1312 Girard is across the street and one block west of my old house and also the intersection where that out of town guy was shot in the face and killed when he and his mom left Calhoun Square back in 2005.

Yeah, that building is awful. A lot of the stuff in Dinkytown is somewhere between boring an bad. It is hard to build beautiful architecture for people with no money.

I mean compared to the luxury stuff. We have had a lot of beautiful buildings that have half million dollar condos or $1500 a month 1br apartments in them. I think a lot of people (especially at Minnescraper) are starting to think that deluxe buildings are the new standard. I was just pointing out that money is the reason why those buildings are so nice, and more regular stuff isn't usually going to be of the same standard.
