I think youre on to something about it being a conversion. However, I'm guessing it is on an Alfa.

The car being emulated here looks to be a Lorenz and Rankl Silver Falcon. However, I'm not convinced its real.

I think this is the final proof, I found in a forum

Ieri pomeriggio, poco prima delle 16... Bergamo Alta, parcheggiata lungo
il Viale delle Mura: ho finalmente identificato la stranissima spider che
da qualche tempo vedevo girare.

Lo stile è decisamente retrò: frontale affusolato, stile Ferrari 275 GTB;
fiancata sinuosa, con una grossa presa d'aria appena dietro il parafango
anteriore; coda sfuggente, un po' sul genere Jaguar E-Type.
Capote e interni color sabbia: plancia e sedili tutti rivestiti in pelle,
di disegno ultra classico. Notevole impressione di lusso.

Sul cofano anteriore, un marchio con il monogramma LR su fondo blu; un
altro marchio su quello posteriore, disegnato come una moneta, con
l'iscrizione "Lorenz & Rankl Silver Falcon" nella corona circolare; una
targhetta sulla fiancata. Targa italiana recente.

Una chimera, insomma: poco originale, composita, però piacevole nel suo
totale anacronismo. Seconda metà degli '80 o primi anni '90. Penso che
probabilmente non ne vedrò un'altra in vita mia...

It says that this guy spotted in Bergamo (exactly where I took that pic) a car looking like Jaguar E-Type and Ferrari 275 GTB and on the bonnet a badge with LR and another one on the trunk with "Lorenz & Rankl Silver Falcon". The car has recent italian license plates. I think now there aren't doubts

If it's a real Lorenz & Rankl Silver Falcon, which it could very well be even though there are supposed to exist only 11 or 15 of them (well whatever the exact number it's a very rare car). There are some pictures of Silver Falcons that have the same bumper attached to the front and there are different versions of rear lights. They're not all identical and some haver different badges or a Mercedes star in the front grill.
The Silver Falcon is built on a stainles steel tubeframe and most of the technology is from a Mercedes 500 SE or possibly 500 SL. It costs around 80.000€ used (new in 1986 it was 190.000 DM or 202.000 DM plus extras) and is built completely handmade in Wolfratshausen near Munich and comes with a 100year warranty.
I read somewhere that their bodies are built either from aluminum or fiberglass (in German GFK) or from cevlar-carbon. (http://www.silverfalcon.de/dokumente/6.html)

On the parts list the car is still named "Silberpfeil" and not "Silver Falcon", (Silberpfeil is a protected brand and owned by Mercedes), so the design is probably inspired by the famous traditional Mercedes racecars.

And as I said before, the engine is 5.0 Litre. This I know by sure cause I could check it using the license plate number. It has 5.0 Litre for 180 KW, so It's surely a Lorenz & Rankl
