Themed rooms

Let's see some of the themed rooms inside buildings or houses around the world. There are probably some famous rooms and not-so-famous rooms, but the use of an overall theme for interior decorations, from windows and walls to furniture to allude to another environment.

The Nylon Suite
Hotel DuPont, Wilmington, Delaware
Almost everything in the room, from the floor up, was made of nylon, shortly after it was invented.

Not really a themed room, but when I was a kid I owned an Encyclopedia for Kids, of which I still have clear memories of an image of the study hall of the Lenin Library in Moscow. For some reason I loved that room. Last year I had an opportunity to visit it. Amazingly it looks exactly as I remembered it from that image, as pictured below, and I still love it. Stately Socialist architecture at its best.

I have long planned to convert an upstairs bedroom, once the kids have vacated them, into a 'beach room'. It would involve about four inches of sand on the floor, beach chairs for furniture, bright heat lamps and pale blue walls and ceiling. I've also thought about some sort of water feature, and possibly a beach webcam continually playing on the wall (a la the Huntington Beach cam at some clothing store). The room would have to be bright and warm, with good windows. Any decoration would involve bamboo, driftwood and shells. Maybe some calypso playing quietly, as if wafting over the breeze from some nearby gathering of musicians.

It would be a good way to get through the winter doldrums.

I've always wanted to have a special environment per room. Aquatic for the bathroom, desert for the garage. Forest for a bedroom and a log for the hallway, etc, etc,. I'll be sure to post my accomplishment if I ever get around to it.

Don't know if this can be hosted here but this hotel in Italy has themed rooms devoted to famous people: this is the one devoted to fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, with lots of shocking pink and lobsters on the walls! Love it!
