that's still not a guarantee with mainstream media, even that local media could be worse than a mainstream foreign entitiy (not that they're better either) even to the point of mediocritizing and dumbing down the masses and crassly infesting with its political agenda. there should be ways to discourage such local media to infest in the political arena as the ideals and essence of what Media is called for is corrupted by them. That offending media should be subject even to a collective boycott as weapons of concerned citizens for the community to achieve what best serves their interest and not otherwise that of the puppet media's puppeteers. what's needed is to create a public more discerning in their standards and that would require a quality society with more independent and critical thinking individuals in control of molding their destiny and its own culture and that is where quality alternative media sets in. The country's educational system should have done its obligation in strengthening of such by empowering and equipping its citizens with a stronger sense of being, instilling in each individual a sense of History, on the appreciation of Literature, Art and other creative endeavors, but the mainstream educational system in this country seems a failure when it comes to that field, unless something revolutionary is done. That's what we call the Joseph Goebbel proposition: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

wow! meron naman palang infrastructure projects si Penoy:
Antique Road Nears Completion February 27, 2012 The Department of Public Works and Highways has reported the near completion of the P910 million national road linking the provinces of Iloilo and Antique. Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that the Boundary Iloilo/Anitique-Anini-y-V. Jimenez road is now 97.56% complete. The project involves the construction/improvement of 29.95 kilometers road network traversing the municipalities of Anini-y, Dao and Hamtic in Antique. It also involves the construction of a 10.80 linear meter bridge and approaches and the rehabilitation of four (4) bridges. The project aims to provide access roads from the rural areas of Antique to major Panay arterial road links to promote and sustain regional industries and agricultural activities. This will also bring Antiqueños from the rural areas into the mainstream of progress and development by improving their living conditions. Director Gil Villanueva of the Rural Road Network Development Project- Project Management Office (RRNDP-PMO) said that he has directed the contractor China Wuyi Co., Ltd to fast track the project because it is part of DPWH’s program to realize President Aquino’s goal of sustained economic growth and poverty reduction by upgrading, improving and rehabilitating the Philippine road network to make these national roads 100% paved by 2016. The project is package 9 of the Rural Road Network Development Project, Phase III and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) –Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan.![]() . . . . . . . . Another accomplishment of the Penoy administration:
DPWH Inaugurates Camiguin Flood Disaster Mitigation Project January 19, 2012 Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson together with Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA-Philippines Chief Representative Takahiro Sasaki led the inauguration of newly constructed SABO dams and bridge in Camiguin Island. “We thank the Japanese government through JICA for their help in putting up these two SABO dams including the reconstruction of the Hubangon Bridge in Barangay Hubangon, Mahinog, Camiguin. Since the construction of the dams, the island doesn’t suffer flash floods anymore. The DPWH is optimistic that we will duplicate such kind of projects in areas that were greatly affected by the recent typhoon “Sendong” like Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City,” said Secretary Singson. Mr. Sasaki gave the assurance that the Japanese government is always open in extending help to the Philippines especially in the development of infrastructure facilities across the country. The project costing P455 Million was implemented by the DPWH Major Flood Control Project II - Project Management Office in coordination with DPWH Region 10 Office. The project was funded under the Government of Japan (GOJ) through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project involved the construction of two (2) Sabo Dam across Pontod River and the reconstruction of the old Hubangon Bridge heavily damaged by Typhoon “Nanang” in 2001. Part of the project included the warning system and community disaster preparedness component. The Sabo Dams aim to prevent the occurrence of debris flows that could cause extensive damage in the downstream area and at the same time stabilize the riverbed and mountain slopes to minimize further sediment production in the upstream area. The new Hubangon Bridge will restore good traffic condition since the bridge is the only route connecting Guinsiliban Port and the provincial capitol of Mambajao. The completed structures will improve the living condition in the hazard prone area and likewise improve the economy and tourism in the entire province of Camiguin. Also present during the inauguration were DPWH Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut, Region 10 Director Norma Gironella, Flood Control Project Director Rogelio O. Ang, Congressman Pedro P. Romualdo, Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, Mahinog Mayor Alex R. Jajalla, Japan Embassy Minister of Economic Affairs Akio Esomata, JICA dignitaries, representatives of the contractor Toyo Construction, and other DPWH and LGU officials. . . . . . . . . . . . Ground broken for Camiguin Island's Hubangon-to-Pontod River bridge January 8, 2010 ![]() MANILA, Jan. 8 — Ground was broken on Thursday for Camiguin Island's flood disaster mitigation project by Misamis Oriental Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, assisted by the Minister for Economic Affairs of the Japanese Embassy in Manila Tomochika Uyama. The project is funded by the government of Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA) grant aid amounting to Yen 1.013 billion (approximately P500 million). The bridge spans the Hubangon and Pontod River basins in Camiguin Island and Misamis Oriental in Mindanao. The entire project is to be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and covers the construction of two Sabo dams, barriers to prevent landslides, along Pontod River and the reconstruction of Hubangon Bridge, which forms part of the peripheral/national road and spans across the Hubangon River, the Japanese Embassy said. ---------- OMG! At the very least growth is sustained although the rate of its growth is getting lower from what we got in 2010.

Keep it coming, and make sure the economic team will close the deal, it's short of the emir themselves will oversee its success,..I hope for the financing of the bullet train for the relocation of NIA to CLARK and is very ideal for the logistics complex at CLARK, or QATAR to include the Mindanao railway also,..
Emirs of Kuwait, Qatar to visit Phl this month By Pia Lee-Brago (The Philippine Star) Updated March 04, 2012 12:00 AM Comments (0) MANILA, Philippines - The emirs of Kuwait and Qatar will visit the Philippines this month and in April, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said that the Emir of Kuwait, Sheik Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah, would embark on a state visit from March 26-28. An advance team is now in Manila. Meanwhile, the Emir of Qatar, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani will arrive in Manila next month for a state visit from April 10-11. “The Emir of Qatar and the Emir of Kuwait are coming at our invitation,” Del Rosario said. The Philippines is eyeing $3 billion investments from Qatar and Kuwait for this year alone. The secretary said Kuwait is a significant and large investor in the Philippines that is putting up the 177-hectare Logistics Park, with a potential investment of $2 billion. “And you can see this thing coming up from the ground already,” he said. Qatar, on the other hand, has joint ventures with San Miguel. http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx...bCategoryId=63 |

we can only ponder the past and let's start to make it happen starting this year,..it's okay to start at the lowest, i realized, so that we have enough and more room to grow without too much pinpointing but a full responsibility to improve the economy is the best this government could do,..the trend shall be upwards to 2050, not in harmonics even at slow but sure and steady growth,..if this will not happen, then it's all the Filipinos has to be be blamed and no one else,..

Though 2011 is a bit on a low progress, it is not really bad and somehow expected as due to change of governance wherein it is the time that the new administration sets its machinery, reviewing projects from the previous admin, and laying out its plan for the whole term. And growth is expected to increase year by year as the projects are starting to commence and realized. Usually the peak of the growth is expected during the latter part of the admin's term, where in most of the projects are expected to be started. This is to give a lasting impression that the current admin have done something either on national or local level. 2012-2013 will somehow boost spending on local level due to upcoming election. IMHO |
