350. The new government headquarters has recently opened and legislative sessions have moved to the new facility. However, much of the area in front of it is still a work-in-progress as reclamation works continue.

354. The design resembles a door, creating an "open door" concept.

355. Much work still needs to be done in the surrounding areas.

377. Much of Hong Kong's population lives in government housing, and Sau Mau Ping is home to a cluster of these, built along the hillsides with quite decent harbour and skyline views in parts.

381. Po Tat Estate is at the top of the action. Built off the main road, it is quite serene and quiet despite its urban location.

389. With torrential downpours common during the summer, covered walkways linking buildings is a common feature in Hong Kong's housing estates.

391. Residents air out their laundry in the open. With cooler autumn weather in full swing, these clothes should dry in no time.

401. This is a new estate, with a beautifully-landscaped common area.

409. The older public houing blocks are more boxy and smooth.

428. Autumn brings hazy skies. Kwun Tong is barely visible below.

440. Although the weather doesn't reflect the holiday season, but Christmas is fast approaching. The malls are out in full force with extravagant displays to entice consumerism and thoughts away from the true meaning of the season.

445. Harbour City is a mecca for tourist shoppers, and they spend an arm and a leg to decorate every year.

452. It's no longer a hidden message. Buy your gifts! It's hard to believe this place was still so crowded at 11pm despite the shops having already closed.

467. The weather has cooled down considerably lately and hiking is now a comfortable weekend activity. With many rolling hills, this trail offered plenty of views from above the Tseung Kwan O urban jungle.

471. Historical remnants remain. This engraving dates from the old days when Nationalist forces ruled this hill.

478. LOHAS Park is seen in the distance. Built on reclaimed land that used to be landfill, residents have long complained of awful smells as the organic material decays, and will continue to decay for decades to come.

482. A protective mesh prevents large rocks from tumbling into the city below.

485. Rennie's Mill is now a ruin. The business was started by a Canadian businessman in the 19th century, who committed suicide after it failed. Rumours of how he died gave rise to the area's name : "Tiu Keng Leng".

489. The views from this vantage point are breath-taking. Even the islands off the coast in Sai Kung were spotted.

499. Kowloon is on the other side of these hills. Lion Rock peeks out between the ridges in the distance.

500. Kowloon's Po Tat Estate comes into full view. Nowadays, vehicles pass below these buldings and through the hill via a tunnel.

502. On the other side, the new town of Tseung Kwan O emerges.

505. Over in Kowloon, quarrying has scarred the natural landscape.

508. This calm inlet would soon change as a bridge is slated to span these waters.

513. Views of Kowloon were wide and impressive, and even Lion Rock was visible.

520. Although it seemed a clear day, the setting sun obscured views towards the southwest, which meant I had to return here earlier in the day another time for a panoramic skyline shot.

528. Tuen Mun is a faraway suburb, home to a lot of public housing and a sprinkle of private housing estates.

537. These light rail trains connect the different pockets of the northwestern suburbs.

539. An honour fare system is in place.

550. Green taxis roam the New Territories only.

554. It costs a fortune to rent this vintage tram for a party.

561. Half the top deck is open.
