1550 The Chelsea | 54 Floors | Proposed

Mixed-use project may rise on Miami-Dade school district land

If a downtown Miami parcel owned by Miami-Dade County Public Schools is sold, a 54-story tower called 1550 The Chelsea that would include condos, offices and a hotel could rise at the site, according to public records.
The parcel is part of a 10-acre portfolio of offices, parking lots and vacant land next to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts that the school system is considering selling. The parcels are also home to the school district’s headquarters, as well as two schools.
In October, the school district issued a request for interest, which is the necessary first step ...

I always really liked this project. Happy to see it back from the dead.

At 649 ft, it apparently went afoul of FAA height restrictions...

I really like this design. The FAA is letting us have 649 feet in that part of town now, but no more than that.

I thought they were in talking with Genting to buy their land. Did that fall through or not happen?

Resorts World Miami and several other groups are buyers in that neighborhood...depending on the price and terms.
The land has not been sold yet.

I don't know....but if you figure that a 54 story building with 11ft (slab to slab) per story, 54 stories would be about 596 ft.
