I know it's not the smallest city but considering that it does only have 287,000 people, Cincinnati has a rather large skyline for it's size.

I didn't include the entire metro area in the population, only the city proper.

You have to look at Cincinnati's demographic history. Just 50 year's ago it had over 500,000 people which helped create the large downtown it is today.

The municipal population of Cincinnati is irrelevant. That skyline exists because Cincinnati centers a region of 2+ million people. If Cincinnati were truly a city of less than 300,000 people, it wouldn't have such a skyline.

I know Manitowoc WI was already posted but the picture really didn't show anything. So I thought I'd give it another shot. Metro Population of 33,736 as of 2010.
North side downtown. [IMG] [/IMG]Some of the various tall industry buildings. [IMG] [/IMG]A view from atop the "beer bottles" in the south side downtown.

When stats are kept for the population size of cities, they need to be kept for metropolitan areas, and not just for cities proper. Denver, the city proper has about 600K, but the metropolitan area has about 3 million. I'd like to see the order of the size of metro areas, as opposed to cities proper. I think if that was used. New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago would still be first, second, and third, respectively.

This is misleading, since Clayton is a suburb, or a bedroom community right next door to St. Louis. Downtown is almost as big as downtown St. Louis. It would be much more impressive, if the town was isolated and away from a major metropolitan area. |

I know Downtown St. Louis isn't the most impressive downtown, but Clayton lacks in a lot of areas Downtown St. Louis excels in.
