If all cities of the world had the same land mass and population count of HK, the tendency to have nicer skylines would be much greater wouldn't it?.....it would really be a competition then.....LOL

not really.. take a look at Toronto.
it's skyline is massive, yet population is not as big as the other massive cities.

Could Tokyo be on the other end of the extreme? I mean, it sure has huge population, relatively small landmass for that population size, but yet the skyline is spread out, scattered and not concentrated into a small area like cities like HK.

The best example would be US cities such as Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Seattle, etc. Their city population are less than a million but have great and massive skylines.

Tokyo's land mass is actually huge especially The Greater Tokyo Area including Yokohama and the suburbs of Kanagawa and Chiba. Its skyline is spread out but it is concentrated within the route of the Yamanote Line.

HK on the other hand also has a spread out skyline. It is not just in the city centre but also in the New Towns and in Lantau.

3. Benidorm

on the other hand, here are some cities with a rather small skyline for its size
1. dhaka
2. saigon

Mumbai has a vast skyline. But its like Sao Paulo the buildings are not that tall. Mexico City on the other hand does not have a big skyline since it is located in a major seismic zone.

So is Taipei. There are only a few tall buildings in this city including the Taipei 101.
