Just like to enquiry anyone from any country is using any accident records as one of the criteria for guidelines in pedestrian crossing.

Thanks alot.

I'm from singapore and currently we do not have any guideline on using accident records as one of the criteria.

That is certainly done here in Germany. They use local accident records as well as common general statistics which type or version of crossing is beneficial in what way, or safer/unsafer under what circumstances. They also not only use accident records but in addition to that they often also generate and use records and statistics on the actual amount of traffic at different daytimes right at the given site (for that purpose they then send groups people there at certain times of the day to actually count all the cars and pedestrians coming and going in whatever direction) and they also use future plans and even include estimations on locally expected future traffic.

Thank you for your reply. The information is very useful. Could you share more details on how Germany uses accident record to justify the provision of a pedestrian crossing. Any guidelines or link to local transport authority would also be helpful.

Btw, are you local, if so, would it be possible for a short meet up to discuss this further.

Appreciate your prompt response.

Thank you.
