Over 2,000 green houses to be ready by April

All set:Beneficiaries of the Chief Minister's Solar Powered Green House Scheme at Navalur Kuttapattu village in Tiruchi district.— Photo:M.Moorthy

Out of the 1,435 families living in Navalur Kuttapattu village panchayat, 529 have been declared as Below Poverty Line (BPL) families by a government survey that used data from the 2001 Census report. Scoring between 2 and 17 on a scale that measured their family income, land ownership, length of stay at the village, clothing and cattle among others, these families (listed in ascending order of score) are the beneficiaries of the Chief Minister's Solar Powered Green House (CMSPGH) Scheme. On February 13, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa handed over the keys of the first house to be completed under this scheme to Fathima Gani and Fakeer Mohammad from this village.

Their house, along with three other houses in the village, is among the 21 houses sanctioned in Manikandam Panchayat Union in the Srirangam constituency. The houses in other parts of the district are under various stages of construction and likely to be completed by April, officials said.

Under this scheme, the government has allotted 2,206 solar powered green houses for the district for the current year,” said Collector Jayashree Muralidharan.

The beneficiaries must own the patta to their land, which must be at least 3 cents in area. “The CMSPGH scheme houses are bigger in size (300 sq. ft.) than the ones built under the Indira Awaz Yojana, have an attached bathroom and use a green source of energy.”

Besides the four houses in Manikandam panchayat union, one more has been completed in Musiri. A sum of Rs.1.8 lakh has been allocated for each house, out of which solar panels worth Rs. 30,000 are being provided by the Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA). All houses have a hall, a bedroom, a kitchen, a veranda, an attached bathroom and the solar panels installed on the terrace can power up to five CFL lamps.

“Power connection has been provided for the use of other electrical appliances,” said Shankara Jothi, Executive Engineer, DRDA, adding that the beneficiaries could add wooden doors, windows, kitchen countertops and cupboards using their own fund.

While Fathima Gani has spent about Rs.1.45 lakh, Sengamalai, another beneficiary has spent over Rs. 2 lakh as her house has tiles and she employed external labour for the construction. “Seventy per cent of the total number of allotments has been reserved for BCs, 29 per cent for SCs and 1 per cent for STs,” said Ms. Shankara Jothi

Yes that is principle of fuel cell. Fuel Cell = Oxidization without heat generation, i.e it is an alternative to combustion (fuel burning)

Instead of Rs 30,000,Solar Power system, They can think of using this product.

Quote:
Orb Energy, a provider of solar energy solutions, has devised a do-it-yourself solar lighting kit targeting rural households.

The Rs 4,990-‘plug-and-play' package comes with a 5-W amorphous solar panel, two 1.5W LED lamps, a console unit, a 12.8V lithium battery and a mobile charging adapter. The user has to mount the solar panel on the roof or a south-facing wall, fit the two lamps in ones house and plug them together to the battery to use. Orb is partnered with several regional rural banks (RRBs) and helps users take loans from these banks for purchasing the product, Mr Damian Miller, the company CEO told Business Line. “They pay us for the products, and customers have to pay them back over five years,” he said.

The Rs 30-crore company has over 100 branches to sell its solar lighting, water heating and street lighting. It is partnered with several RRBs to implement several of its solar lighting solutions in rural areas. The company has done about 30,000 solar installations in the country today through dealer and retail channels, including in remote villages that have no access to grid electricity.

According to Mr Miller, on using the system, a rural household will spend Rs 1.60 a solar light per day compared with Rs 6.25 a kerosene lantern per day, resulting in a payback period of three years on the investment.

Orb is also looking at exporting the product has seen orders from countries such as Nepal, Pakistan, East Africa in just a month after launch, Mr Miller said.

The house in picture looks almost similar to Thatha's Hut replacement scheme. Hope JJ revives that scheme and replace all huts in Tamil Nadu.

They should also use Tansi to mass manufacture windows and Doors and supply to Dwellers on cost price.

To start with Govt, should ban using thatches as roof ,sun shade material in future, throughout TN..

The Govt. was experimenting with Polyurathene Foam to build houses earlier. May be not suitable for our Climate.( 1 day construction)

Mahindra commissions rooftop solar plant

Mahindra City Developers Ltd & Mahindra EPC Services — Off-grid Division, commissioned a 75 KW Rooftop solar plant at Mahindra City, Chennai.

The system spread across 800 square metres is on the roof top of ‘The Canopy', a commercial complex in Mahindra City. The solar power system will generate more than 1,16,000 units (kWh) of clean energy annually, resulting in significant savings in the electricity charge and diesel consumption. It will offset nearly 60 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year. This plant is a part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) policy for off-grid systems.

“We plan to play a larger role in Off-Grid systems and bridge the last mile gap in the country,” said Mr Vish Palekar, Business Head, Cleantech Ventures, Mahindra Partners, in the release. “Along with rooftops, we are also working closely to solarise telecom towers and power IT centres,” he said.

The Engineering, Procurement and Construction arm of Mahindra Solar — Mahindra EPC — OffGrid Division has commissioned this 75 KW solar power project utilising its proven expertise in design, engineering and construction.

The off-grid division setup under Cleantech Ventures — a division of Mahindra Partners, the Mahindra EPC business (MEPC), provides turnkey services to build large-scale grid-connected solar power plants and rooftop solutions for developers and commercial organisations. The MEPC off-grid division has commissioned projects across residential buildings, carports, SEZ, lighting and rural electrification.

Mahindra City is a PPP between the Mahindra Group and TIDCO (a Tamil Nadu Government undertaking) which has established an integrated business city. Exports from the three sector-specific SEZs were more than Rs 3,500 crore in 2011. The residential zone offers social amenities, including schools, medical centres, retail plazas, a business hotel, recreation and leisure facilities.

Mahindra City has a CBSE school, Mahindra School, managed by the Mahindra School Education Trust and has around 400 children.

Mahindra recently signed up Duet Hotels to bring in a Holiday Inn Express that will be set up as a 4-star business hotel, and is expected to be operational by September 2013.

The next phase of development will include plazas, multiplexes, a hospital, clubs with sports facilities, accommodation for single working professionals.

I will discuss that in an an appropriate forum. Please do not reply to this here.

Nikola Tesla, the inventor of AC Current also invented power from natural elements from Air & Lightning -using perpetual Engines,

But the Oil lobby sabotaged him and his research. But Tesla Loyalists are still doing research , but underground / without much fanfare which may force the control out of Oil Lobby's hands, if they succeed.

So they announced with fanfare about Bloom Box and forced other Tesla follwers to come out open to either oppose this or announce their findings wrt patent rights.

Now the Oil Lobby will know where all Tesla followers are there and they can be fixed.

Ponni Sugars to commission 19 MW plant soon

http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/...cle2981592.ece

Quote:

Ponni Sugars (Erode) Ltd is set to commission its 19-MW co-generation plant by the month end.

This will be a significant development for the company in terms of revenue generation and potential growth to the top line.

Mr N. Ramanathan, Managing Director, Ponni Sugars, told Business Line that the project is being completed on schedule and well within the estimated project cost of Rs 102 crore.

The costs have been contained despite increase in the base rate, he said.

Initially, the cogeneration plant will operate at 15 MW which will help generate a surplus of about 11 MW that will be supplied to the State grid.

At full capacity, the surplus supplied to the grid will increase to about 14 MW. This will mean an additional revenue of about Rs 45 crore a year for the company at the current tariff level of Rs 4.47 a unit.

80+19 MW some might say very small compared to our deficit, but any addition to capacity is welcome during these desperate times.
