It seems that they have decided to re-open Kallang Theatre. Here is a news article from a few weeks ago.

Curtain up for S'pore Kallang Theatre

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Kallang Theatre is slated to re-open with an accompanying musical - after much delay.

It used to stage world-class musicals like Les Miserables and Miss Saigon - but closed in 2007 because it was under-used.

The venue manager explained that the place was left dormant for too long.

"When we started renovating, we found that a lot of things needed to be replaced, especially the cables and wiring. This place was left for too long - for five years. When we repaired some of the areas, other problems cropped up," said Mr Steven Tham, chairman of Asia Arts and Culture.

But by October 8, it should be all systems go - with the stage set for the maiden launch of "Singapura, Lion City".

The musical traces the history and success of Singapore, from the day it was founded as an island, to its evolution as a cosmopolitan city.

The highlight of the musical is a six-metre tall Merlion - a mystical creature from Singapore.

The venue manager spent S$3 million to stage the production, and more than half a million dollars to refurbish the theatre.
