Chinese slow songs in contrast seem very mature, they developed to have their own distinct style. Especially in the recent years with the three new 'genius' - Jay Chou, Leehom and JJ.

Really love Amei lately!

Jay wrote the song, huge huge love..

even thou not sang by Amei, i love 梁文英's voice

Though the trend right now is that more mainland artists are signing-up with international or Taiwan-based labels to penetrate both Taiwan and Mainland Chinese markets

It started first with Faye Wong and Na Ying (Natasha Na) in the 90's, though they actually started their careers in Hongkong. There's Lin Bao and Anson Hu in early 2000's...

Yup, so many mainland Chinese are entering the TW market now, they have better producers and brokers in TW that will package them better.

Since lifting the ban in 2008 when Ma Ying-jeou took office.

The last decade has witnessed Mainland C-pop's rise. I think they owe it to Faye Wong/Shirley Wong and Na Ying/Natasha Na with their million selling-albums in the 90's and Lin Bao and Anson Hu in 2000's.

They even have Japanese, American, Canadian, S. Korean and European producers, engineers, and songwriters - more than what TWN and HK singers have. The ones record companies are hiring are those with impressive credentials - those who have previously worked with A-list Western (US, EU, Canada, Latin America and Australia/NZ) and Japanese singers.

Take the case of "Super Girl" alumna Bibi Zhou (Zhou Bichang), "I Miss U Missing Me" and her Mandarin version, "Distance In a Tear" was composed by American songwriter-producer Dianne Warren in 2010. You can hear that from her album "I.Fish.Light.Mirror" (Gold Typhoon/EMI, 2010).

Warren was known to have written and produced/co-produced these memorable ballads (and some rock and dance tracks): "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing [1998]" - Aerosmith, "Because You Love Me [1996]" and "I Want You to Need Me [2000]" - Celine Dion, "Can't Take That Away [2000]" - Mariah Carey, "I Didn't Know My Own Strength [2010]" and "I Learned from the Best [1999]" - Whitney Houston [1963-2012], "As Long As I Can Dream [1993]" and I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me [1992]" - Exposed, "Listen To Your Heart" - Roxette, "I Turn To You" - All-4-One [1996; OST-Space Jam] and Christin Aguilera [2000], "Don't Turn Around" - Tina Turner [1986] and Ace of Base [1992] "Can't Fight the Moonlight [2000]" - LeAnne Rhymes, and a long list of songs.

Also, she is just one of the 4 Asian musician whom Warren had worked with. The other 3 are Filipina divas Charice ('Note to God" [2009-10; originally sung by American singer JoJo in 2006, but unreleased]) and Nina ("I Don't Want To Be Your Friend" [2004; originally sung by American 80's pop icon Cyndi Lauper in 1989, but unreleased. Note: Listen to her whistle register at the background ]) and the Malaysian pop trio KRU ("More Than Forever [1998])

Pop diva Jane Zhang (Zhang Liangying), meanwhile has Toby Gad with her first English song "To Be Loved [2005]". Jane is actually fluent in English so she knows it. She even worked with Canadian songwriter/producer David Foster, Japanese musician Kitaro [Impressions of the West Lake, 2009] and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.

Gad is known to have composed "Finally [2006]" and "Big Girls Don't Cry [2006]" for Black Eyed Peas' Fergie (both ballads), Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine [2008]," Beyonce's "If I Were A Boy [2008]", Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper" [2011] and others.

Jane is also one of the 4 Asian/Asian-American/Eurasian musicians who had worked with Gad. The other four are ex-Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger (half-Filipino, "Don't Hold You Breath [2010, Killer Love]"), Enrique Iglesias (part-Filipino [her mother is a Spanish mestiza from Manila], "Cosas del Amor [1998, Cosas del Amor]") and J-Pop queen Koda Kumi ("VIP/Boom Boom Boys" [2012, Japonesque]).

She's also one of the 5 Asian musicians David Foster has worked with in his long span of his music career. J-Pop queens Seiko Matsuda [Every Little Hurt, 1988], Mariya Takeuchi [Fly Away, 1980; Teko's Theme, 2004] and Misia [Life in Harmony, 2010], even his protege Filipina diva Charice were also in his list.

Ethereal wave/folktronica musician Sa Dingding has British dance/trance DJ Paul Oakenfold, where he remixed one of her songs, and Howie B/Howard Bernstein, a British trip-hop musician who previously worked with Bjork. Many in the Western world and in China compared Dingding's musical style to that of Bjork.

Laure Shang/Shang Wenjie, meanwhile has Belgian pianist Jean-Francois Maljean (aka Mar) and pop diva Lara Fabian. She's actually fluent in French, English, German and Spanish in addition to Mandarin, Shanghainese and Cantonese.

Did lots of research about them.

What's now lamentable about HK and Taiwan acts recently has something to now with their talent, more on the "Idol" factor. They're no way better than their elderly peers in the industry.

Forgot to add about Jane Zhang's impressive credentials. Her and Kitaro's version of "Impressions of the West Lake" earned them a Grammy nomination for Best New Age Recording in the 2010 Grammy Awards. A first since Korean operatic soprano Jo Sumi who won the Best Classical Recording also at the Grammys - in 1993.

She's also the only Asian/Chinese artist to join the World Peace One (WP1) concert organized by the World Peace One Organization, an international NGO advocating world peace. Popular musicians participated in this cause includes Madonna, U2, Pink Floyd and Green Day. That was in 2007.

In her 2011 album "Reform," she has American producer Michael Jay (Eminem, Celine Dion and Aussie pop icon Kylie Minogue) and Gene Grimaldi, Lady Gaga's exclusive recording engineer in her list of her Western production team.

You got to admit this MV is one of the most creative ever for C-Pop.
