AeroMexico flying commercial route with 15% blend of Honeywell Green Jet Fuel 10 November 2011 Aeromexico is using a 15% blend of Honeywell Green Jet Fuel, produced from camelina using process technology from Honeywell’s UOP, on flights on its Mexico City to San Jose, Costa Rica route, marking one of the first uses of renewable fuels in everyday airplane passenger service. The Aeromexico-operated Boeing 737-700 carries up to 124 passengers. Mexican agency Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA) blends Green Jet Fuel with petroleum-based fuel. The agency has developed its “Flight Plan towards Sustainable Aviation Biofuels in Mexico,” program which is focused on identifying and analyzing the elements of the supply chain of aviation biofuels in Mexico. According to ASA, the Mexican aviation sector expects biofuels to account for 1% of the fuel used in Mexico by 2015 and 15% by 2020. The Aeromexico biofuels route comes on the heels of multiple commercial flights around the world. Honeywell’s UOP process technology produces Green Jet Fuel from natural oils and wastes. The fuel meets all specifications for flight and, when used in a 50-50 blend with petroleum-derived jet fuel, is a drop-in replacement that requires no changes to the aircraft or engine. To date, Honeywell Green Jet Fuel has been used in more than 20 test and commercial flights on military and commercial platforms. In each flight, the biofuel performed as well, if not better, than traditional petroleum-based fuels. The fuel received ASTM approval for commercial flight in July 2011. Honeywell’s UOP is developing and licensing a range of processes to produce green fuels from natural feedstocks. In 2007, UOP commercialized the UOP/Eni Ecofining process to produce Honeywell Green Diesel fuel from natural oils and wastes, and in 2008, Honeywell’s UOP formed the joint venture Envergent Technologies LLC with Ensyn Corp. to offer technology that converts solid waste biomass, such as forest and agricultural residues, to renewable heat, power and transportation fuels Source: http://www.greencarcongress.com/2011...-20111110.html |

I couldn't tell you if not or so...Although AM mentioned that they will increase US destinations in 2012. So far they are reopening Atlanta (SkyTeam) hub and Washington D.C.. No one is too sure what other destination but I predict; Boston (Re-Launch) in a near future. Just have to wait and see.

Here's the deal.
It's not yet a full order, it's not yet firmed and is not listed in the Boeing order book. The original press releases from Boeing and Aeromexico are very clear about this. The 787s are apparently also puzzling to the reporters. The article suggests that the 787s that will come from this order will delivered in 2013 but that's not the case. They clearly haven't read Aeromexico's press release that you can find here, where's it somewhat more clear. This order will be for 10 787-9, the deliveries in 2013 will be from the 2011 order for 2 787-8s are in Boeing order book plus 7 787-8s that will be leased |

I was truly hoping that AeroMexico would incorporate Airbus into their fleet. None the less, 100 new birds is very welcome into the fleet indeed...
Now my understanding about the new order is that it is already official by AM. Can't wait to see those 87 hit the skies. So AM can finally get rid of the fossil 762ER that are been sent to NRT, EZE, CDG, SCL, to name a few....

This is how Aeromexico announced it in their press release.
"Mexico City, July 25th, 2012. – Grupo Aeroméxico, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: AEROMEX) announced that it signed a letter of intent with the Boeing aircraft manufacturer to purchase up to 100 next generation aircraft worth close $11 billion U.S. dollars. This intention to buy represents the largest investment by a national company in the aviation industry in Mexico." This means that they did not sign the final order contracts yet, so it's not yet counted as an full order in airline business. This doesn't mean that Aeromexico is going to bail out before the order is signed, they already made a down payment and the production slots are also secured. They will get these planes, but it's just not counted as an order yet. |

AeroMexico Reaffirms Decision to Buy 19 Boeing 787 Dreamliners --AeroMexico says it maintains confidence in Boeing planes --Mexican airline says it expects its first 787 this summer --AeroMexico says it's firm on decision to buy 19 Dreamliners MEXICO CITY--Mexico's biggest airline company, Grupo Aeromexico SAB (AEROMEX.MX), said Thursday it has absolute confidence in Boeing (>> The Boeing Company) aircraft and remains firm in its plans to buy 19 of the company's 787 Dreamliners despite recent teething problems with the plane. Commenting on a series of recent Dreamliner incidents and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's decision to temporarily ground the aircraft, Aeromexico said it expects to take delivery of its first 787 this summer and hasn't altered originally planned preparations to receive the plane. "The airline maintains its decision to incorporate 19 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and has absolute confidence in the Boeing company and in all of its products," Aeromexico said. "The decision to acquire the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is part of our commitment to maintain one of the most modern, safe and efficient fleets in the world to benefit our passengers and participate in the development of our country," it added. The FAA ordered a halt to Dreamliner flights on Wednesday after a second battery malfunction on the company's 787 aircraft in the past two weeks. Aeromexico operates an all-Boeing fleet, except for its commuter jets, and last year announced plans to buy 100 aircraft in coming years. Most of the planes are Boeing 737 MAXs. Aeromexico said last week that it transported 14.8 million passengers in 2012 for a 3% year-on-year increase. Aeromexico is Mexico's biggest airline by passenger carriage and other measurements. It has grown briskly in recent years after carrier Mexicana went bankrupt and closed down Source: http://www.4-traders.com/THE-BOEING-...ners-15832623/ |
