the placement and design of Lynx Central station...
the Courthouse is right across the street with institutional architecture. They really need to build a main station that is huge and gives the illusion of mass. Nothing dinky. With BOA on one side and the Courthouse on the other, I think the architectural style needs to be a hybrid of both to blend in. the rail line that spurs at about Robinson: if they have a future line going out there into Lake and Apopka, are they going to alter the orientation of that spur or make the train overshoot and back back up into the main Lynx station? Or, are they just going to link that line at Church St. Sta instead, which defeats the purpose of a large station elsewhere? |

The Orange Blossom Express would currently not link to SunRail directly (although there would be a connection at Church Street Station).
I like your idea about a Grand Central Station -- it should focus on intermodal connections which includes SunRail, Amtrak, Lynx, and bus connections including moving greyhound over from JYP, as well as Megabus and other city-to-city connections, i.e. Orlando to Miami. |

![]() the DeVos proposed $100M development at the arena... perfect example of how things get built dispersed in Orlando instead of maximizing a dense development... if the Lynx station was adjacent to the new arena, its development would coincide with this new proposal and the result would be a very busy development b/c of the train... downside would be riff raff the buses would bring. |

Keep in mind that Amway and Devos' proposed mixed use entertainment project are only a block from the Church Street SunRail stop, and that the Central Station project, adjacent to Lynx, should really add to the vibrancy at that location.

SunRail will begin construction on January 27. The first shovels will move dirt where the Altamonte Springs station will be located. It's the beginning of something huge for the Orlando area.

Sorry, guys. My bad. No, nothing new. But I think I'm going to the Jan 27 event.
There is one thing... Tupperware is a major player in developing around the station at Osceola Pkwy. They are pretty close by off of OBT to the west. |

it looks like the City gave $$$ yesterday towards the study of the CRT line from Lake County to downtown along existing tracks (they join the CSX tracks around Robinson St. just behind the Marriott/Sheraton which is near the old O-rena).
They are also studying the corridor for a line to connect Lake Nona to OIA and then OCCC along the 528/SLR corridor. |

That is great news -- a huge step towards a comprehensive mass transit plan for the Orlando metro. Never in my dreams would I have thought that someday Lake County would be connected to downtown Orlando via commuter rail. Should that happen, each of the Orlando metro counties (Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Lake) will have a commuter stop(s) within their borders when SunRail is up and running.

![]() Yes, but the real coup would be if they could run a line along the easement of the 408 and TNPK and get a station in Clermont. I don't think that's possible b/c they did the 408 widening already a few years ago and it's pretty urban ala how tight it is set up with no grass median and with sound walls up, etc., west of I-4. |

I think from this point forward we'll start seeing a ton of projects breaking ground, from the construction of individual stations, to the revamping of existing ones, to the double tracking north of Winter Park, to the redevelopment of the Lynx property near the Courthouse.

![]() ![]() More SunRail InformatioN 1. In its agreements with CSXT to purchase the mainline railroad corridor on which SunRail service will run, the state did preserve an option to purchase in the future an existing railroad spur that connects to Orlando/Sanford Airport. There is currently no timetable as yet to exercise that option. The Florida Department of Transportation recently advertised a study to begin examining alternatives for rail service that would connect to Orlando International Airport. That study is expected to take about two years. When Phase I of SunRail service begins in 2014, bus connections will be provided to Orlando International Airport from the Sand Lake Road station. And finally, no direct rail connections are currently contemplated for the SSU campus in Altamonte. 2. As you may know, the Department is contracting out the construction, operations and maintenance of SunRail to third-party vendors. The Department anticipates that the Operations and Maintenance contract will be advertised within the next few months, and that contractor will be on board by late this year or early next year. I have attached a flyer that details some of the jobs that may become available as part of that contract. 3. SunRail will have wifi service on board the trains, but not “Transit TV” per se. Technology seems to be evolving so rapidly these days, that many smart phones with Internet connections are capable of streaming live video on demand! 4. I have attached a rendering for your review of what the design schematics are for the interior and exterior of SunRail trains. I hope you concur with the visual appeal of the designs!
