Development Overview

Quote:
Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Estate is designed as an exclusive, secure and serene haven located some 25 minutes outside the bustling business centre of Lagos.

Homeowners will enjoy the security and freedom that a gated community brings, as well as the luxury of living on a pristine 18-hole golf course, complete with clubhouse. Choose to stay, and play at Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Estate, and you’ll also enjoy sports facilities such as a swimming pool, squash, tennis and badminton courts.

The Lakowe Lakes development occupies a land area of roughly 308 hectares, and overlooks a 55 hectare man-made lake. Its prime position on the thriving and fast developing Lekki-Epe axis guarantees occupants easy access to other neighbourhoods, and to the city, taking advantage of the upgrade and expansion of the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Lakowe Lakes golf and country estate forms part of the larger “Lagos New Town” development project, which has been planned as a fully integrated, self sustaining municipality that will incorporate first class infrastructure. This new town has been modelled after other globally successful urban redevelopment projects.

Background

Quote:
Lakowe Lakes was conceived to address an identified gap in the Lagos residential market to provide a new destination, high end residential neighbourhood for the city of Lagos.
http://www.lakowelakes.com/about-lak...e-development/

Getting to Lakowe Lakes

Quote:
Lakowe Lakes is approximately 35km from Victoria Island, about 10 minutes from Greensprings School in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area. Situated past Ajah on the Lekki Epe Expressway, the estate is accessed via a service road off the Expressway.
Inspections are by appointment only through the Lakowe Lakes Marketing Suite.

The New Town Project

How Lakowe Lakes fits into Lagos New Town

Quote:
The “Lagos New Town” development comprises six phases of projects planned to house a population of approximately 225,000. Lakowe Lakes forms the second phase of this development.

Situated between the Lekki-Epe dual carriageway and the Atlantic Ocean coast, the sites’ prime position ensures that the development, and in turn Lakowe Lakes, benefits from the Lekki-Epe modern transport network; which includes the newly planned toll Expressway, and introduction of a light rail system in the near future to create an improved transport system. This means that residents are able to take full advantage of an easy transport system that provides them full access to the city, as well as surrounding neighbourhood.

Lagos New Town has been planned as a fully integrated, self-sustaining exclusive lifestyle development that will contain a mix of land uses. These have been selected to provide an optimal modern “Live, Work, Play” environment for the town’s residents, guests and tenants.

wow. this place is really nice. Some of the homes have even been sold already. do you know if some of the homes or any part of the project has actually been completed yet? Do you have any live pics?

This Lekki area will be a site to behold once all the development meant for that area is complete.

Feb 2011 Update

Quote:
Welcome to the Greener Side

As we all come back refreshed and rejuvenated from the holiday season, we wish our growing Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Estate
community a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Amongst the promises this year will bring you are the reality of camaraderie, quality golfi ng, and entertainment with likeminded owners
and guests on the estate. Additionally, besides our construction of model homes; you should be able to commence the construction of
your preferred home type this year.

Following the marketing launch in May last year, we have witnessed an increase in plot uptake in spite of the current economic condition.
We continue to receive enquiries and indications of interest from prospective buyers from all over the world excited about being part of
this exclusive, pioneering, and evergreen golf community.

Progress of the Ultimate Golfing and Living Experience...

The heavy rains and thunderstorms of the past year signifi cantly slowed
down the work of the contractors, and caused multiple losses of already
seeded greens. However, we are pleased to report that seeding and
construction of the 18-hole international standard golf course within the
first golf estate in West Africa has been completed, and will be ready for
play by June 2011. Currently, 6 holes plus the driving range are already in
playable condition, and with the expected early and heavy rainy season, we
anticipate all other holes will be in similar state ahead of the grand opening of
the course.
The 55-hectare man-made lake is still on course to serve as a unique recreation
destination for residents of Lakowe Lakes and their guests. Also, ten water
feature lakes have been completed.

Building & Infrastructure

Infrastructure for Phase 1, which include the road and drainage network, electrical system, and the water and sewer systems, are now in the development stage. Our consultants, ARUP Pty of South Africa have finalised the designs and a consortium of contractors led by Deux Projects have commenced construction. The development and preparation of the housing platforms is also underway and should be completed by June 2011 in readiness for purchasers to construct their homes.

Construction of show houses for the model village is scheduled to begin by the second quarter, and the first show home is expected to be ready for viewing by first quarter of 2012.

A temporary clubhouse will be provided to coincide with the grand opening of the golf course. This facility will provide all essential utilities and conveniences, with a capacity for about 200 persons. It will remain on site and assume an alternative use once the permanent club house is completed.
Additionally, construction of our unique “The Lodges at Lakowe Lakes” – an
exclusive offering for Corporate clients will commence in March.
The Lodges, which will be located away from the residences are designed for short stay accommodation, company retreats, and client entertainment. The Urban Planners, Osmond Lange Architects of South Africa have carefully separated access between the residential and the commercial areas so as to ensure a co-habitable environment for occupants.

Lekki is an extension of VI. You can say it's all part of the the Victoria Island greater area.
