Embassy Court, Brighton
embassy court, brighton
this was/is a revolutionary art deco/modernist building in brighton. the idea was to build many of them along the sea front but conservative attitudes and world war two intervened. pre war occupiers included lawrence olivier and rex harrison. it had all the mod cons we consider today for a middle class apartment to be essential such as a fitted kitchen - the first such building! the building fell into a poor state of repair from the 60s onwards and by the 90s was in a terrible condition. it was renovated in 2004 by conran and partners and is a grade 2* listed building today. the original architects were wells coates. more info here for those who are curious, really recommend checking it out - http://www.embassycourt.org.uk/ ![]() ![]() ![]()
