Duluth has a really cool, old gritty feel. It's easy to forget with the economy on the upswing up there how hard hit it was by the recession in the 70's and 80's. Your pics capture that well.
Also, I think people tend to think of Duluth as sort of "white bread, podunk nowhere." Reality is it's been a magnet for immigrants for so long and continues to be-- easy to get good ethnic food from all over the world up there... |

The grit looks nice, but I imagine it is a very depressing place to live. It's a good reminder that my poor neighbourhood in Thunder Bay isn't the most hard-up place on Lake Superior.
