my most prefered shot in this forum is not the ras beirut.. that was mistyped.. sorry.. i meant to say. "other than that and the ras beirut picture, i wouldn't recommend anything else".

my most favored shot was this one, which i voted to:

zippo i agree with the whole jounieh thing.. therefore i don't think its supposed to be submitted…

I actually read the whole conversation and therefore will submit my thoughts on the whole beiruti/zippo comments..

concerning the ras beirut shot, zippo, i prefere the second not submitted shot..
this one:

and the whole ras beirut marina thing - (talking about the 2 pics in this post, since i posted them again) - i love both shots, but the reason why i picked the first one as my favorite is because, that was my first impression when i saw all of them.. that one really threw me off to a whole different beirut.

its true we had marina shots before as banners, but, 2 of those shots where taken from this angle..

therefore no shot took the true beauty of the marina… also, we shouldn't forget that the dana, zaitunay bay, and bay tower have completed recently.. they really added a beautiful touch to the marina and they provide beirut with a nice urban look..

the raouche/ras beirut shot was amazing.. i love the idea and the banner is also sublime angle-wise..
but if i saw both shots in the eyes of a person who doesn't know beirut.. i'd pick the first marina shot… the second one looks good obviously and has a beautiful vibe for it.. but between the 2 i'd pick the marina one anyday..

You should be credited for that banner, as it was submitted following your request.

No, this one is all you! Two moderators (in the staff forum) have already (unofficially) given it a 5/5 and praised your effort. I told them that you rented a boat to get this shot.

Is anyone else seeing the Muscat banner up instead, but when you click to vote you see Beirut? Why is our banner always cursed with some technical glitch? I swear it's some conspiracy...

Nevermind, I can see it now. I had to log out and log back in for some reason. I hope that isn't the case for a lot of other users.

From all my heart, I wanna thank every single one who voted for our banner, even those who gave it 1 star..

Of all the comments that I so appreciate, 2 comments were actually worth all the effort put into making that banner;

Now that our Beirut banner is standing tall in the 16th place worldwide, the next time a SSC reader will want to describe a war zone, he will think twice, hopefully..

Thanks again everyone, and I hope you now understand me better when I keep insisting on submitting more banners for Beirut.

Cheers, and congratulations guys... (:

Hehe Beating them asses is concordant and nonconflicting with exposing the beautiful essence of our city and works in complement with enlightening whatever delluded & closed prejudiced minds that it might come upon. How else could we have done that.

Im happy with the result and am excited for the upcoming great banners we still have in our repo.

Guys awesome banner yesterday -thank you again Zippo ..

We got 436 votes so far, averaging 4/5 (4.00) we got many 5s but a few haters gave 1s which lowered the overall average...

It's in the top 25

With the help of my brother (a genius programmer), we wrote an application to monitor the votes of our banner (or any other for that matter). We didn't perfect it yesterday, but the next banner will be monitored vote-by-vote. I hate seeing the Becharre scenario repeated, so I think it was worth all the hassle after all...

Here's the visual representation of the processed data:

accurate figures

Anyway, I snapped a shot for it while it was still in the 16th place, and here it is for archiving. For the first second time in SSC, a banner for Beirut makes it to the top 100!

Rabih and Beiruti, thanks for your words guys, whether here or in the comments. It's always my pleasure... (:

That's brilliant!

But just to set the record straight, this isn't the first time we had a Top 100 Banner. Our 2009 banner peaked at #15 and the Becharre banner was #1 (see below):

Beiruti, I'm (obviously) so aware about our Becharre banner, and its glorious historic throne. I said "a banner for Beirut" and not for Lebanon, as it never occurred to me that the 2009 banner (or any other one) made it to the top 100! I stand corrected, thanks...

On a related note, our Becharre banner probably had the highest score in the history of SSC!!... 582 votes accumulating a total of 4.71/5 stars is MUCH higher than the SOPA/PIPA one, that benefited from an unspoken agreement that it "should" be on top of the list...

It breaks my heart to see how haters managed that successfully in pulling it down, anyway...

Thanks for correcting me, and for posting that epic picture!

Thanks for the clarification. And I agree, it may have been the highest score at that time!

I really wish now that I thought to take a screen cap of the 2009 banner at #15. I guess we all thought it would get higher up so we waited, but then it fell off the list courtesy of down-voters.
