At First Sight!

Malls are a normal, American invention.

Indian malls are a cut above the rest because of how newness, however, mall mgmt. looks flaky and copycat style.
Couple of things Indian malls can do is excel in service and make it all Indian themed family oriented affairs, they should have usher's and chaperone's all over the place as labour is still affordable.

Another big thing would be fine mist, moisture and sprayers for outdoor areas. Malls should extract wear from the air to min. green impact.

All good.

DLF is set to build India's largest mega mall, a 4-million square feet promenade in Gurgaon, that's being touted as the country's answer to the huge malls that are coming up in China.

India's largest real estate builder will invest Rs2,000 crore on the project, which compares with the world's largest 7-million square feet New South China mall in Dongguan and is bigger than the 1.5-million square feet Great India Place mall in Noida - the largest mall in India, a senior official at DLF, who did not wish to be named, said.

The mall was originally planned in 2005 to be completed by 2007 when it would have been the largest in the world, but it was put on the back burner as demand waned. Since then quite a few big malls with 6-7 million square feet area have come up in China.

The official quoted earlier said construction work at the site will begin as soon as DLF's 1.8 million square feet mall in Noida is operational in the next 10-12 months.

Market To Mall ...

Question:
  • Any momentum in total makeover of govt. colony markets to malls? One would think that time's overdue when developers could build up consensus, municipalities may modify, in keeping up with the times, height and floor space usage ideas to enable mass re-development and un-lock value.

Ring Road Mall, Deepali Chowk , Delhi..

Delhi - NCR is not only composed of 82 malls. There must be 50-60 malls more which are yet to be included on the list.
