ipa change unta ang heading sa thread kay dili naman sakop ang up cebu sa upv. i think in 5 years kon mahuman na ang srp campus ug ang expansion sa lahug campus ma elevated nga gyud ang cebu campus as an autonomous university of the philippines cebu

actually, I presume autonomous na ang UP Cebu at this point coz the college already secured an autonomous status 2 yrs ago. no need to wait for like 5 yrs. coz its already FREE AS A BIRD!

dili pa gyud na siya full autonomy kung under the supervision pa sila sa office of the up president in diliman. first step pa lang na kay it will take 5 to 7 years to implement sa ilang mga recommendations.

so you mean to say, just because it is now under the Office of the President (UP) its not yet completely autonomous? has there been any college or campus of UP throughout the country that operates 'INDEPENDENTLY' from UP Diliman? say UP Visayas in Iloilo?

yeah mora ug baby pa siya sa president until iyang buhian kon ready na. check the up website sa full documentation about up cebu. daghan pa sila ug trabahoon to make it an independent up. of course the president controls the entire up system.

Nagsugod na ni bai..pero modular approach daw (anam-anam tukod). hehe. Got it from a VERY reliable source. But still, naa gihapon doubts about the source of funds, but they said it will be built. Nagchange man gud pod ang UP system president and ang feedback is dili pa kaayo sila sure kung unsa ka committed ang new UP President.

hmmm.. i think dili ni madayon ang ila designs...sa kagamay nalang sa time allocated for UP Cebu to guild their campus, makaya pa ni nila? =) dapat last 2010 pa unta sila nagsugod... basin simple and plain school building nalang ila buhaton..

UP Cebu is under a university system. It can never be totally independent of the system. Though it would soon become a constituent university, UP Cebu would still get its orders (mostly concerning academic matters) from its main campus in Diliman, where the UP President is holding office. Under UP Visayas, Cebu had to share resources with three other units (Miag-ao and Iloilo City in Iloilo and Tacloban City), so progress was like at a snail's pace, if at all. It also got its orders from UPV Chancellor. A chancellor heads each constituent university. Soon, when it becomes a full-pledged constituent university, UP Cebu will also have its own chancellor and will get its orders directly from UP President. At least, it will free itself somewhat loosely from the tight (and seemingly inherent) UP bureaucracy.

Of course, everytime UP implements a project, there's always this thrill. Will it ever start? If started already, will it ever be completed? And how soon? The Arts and Science building in its Lahug campus was started when I was still freshman in college. I finished my course 4 years later and the building was still under construction, though we already held classes there. I kept visiting the campus and the building still lacked finishing touches as well as many auxiliary facilities. No landscaping, no paints, and the walls were already cracking. It's because Cebu had to rely its funding from what UP Visayas get from Diliman office. Now, that it will become a constituent university, chances are, UP Cebu will get better facilities.
