A site dedicated to Towson University's new 5,200 capacity arena under construction. Yes the same school that just broke the consecutive loss record. Should be a nice small arena, and people are actually really excited about the future with a new arena, and a nice recruiting class and transfers suiting up next year.

March Madness
Does anyone else think that the NCAA goes way overboard on trying to be neutral with every single court during the tournament looking exactly alike? They've done this for several years now and I'm not a fan. There's no individuality. The court looks exactly alike whether it's in Portland or St. Louis, Atlanta or Phoenix. The only court that stood out a little bit was the court at the TD Garden because it was a parquet surface. They even removed all the banners there to make it appear even more sterile.

To be honest, I had noticed from watching on TV. If they went so far as to strip banners and such that is getting ridiculous. But they're struggling in attendance overall, it appears, so maybe as they continue to adjust they'll not fuss over such semantics.

![]() Ok, I looked at the DMC again and (mainly because I was bored, but I had this idea in my head for the longest) I decided to throw out what I thought should happen for the renovation, since that's the direction the folks at TCU are going, i.e., begining to raise money for it as we speak: ![]() Red = Ticket booths/Team Store, Green = concourse expansion ![]() ![]() ![]() Purple = New over head 2nd level seating / Black = space for either more seats in the future or box/press space. ![]() I can't stress enought that I don't know the actual height of this place and since there was no model for it in Google Sketch Up, I just guessed. But I do believe it should be larger and heigher than what it is. The idea: - Expand the DMC to fit more people without losing most of its intimacy. Redesign the roof in the process. - move those front offices to the vacant, former weight room in the corner of The Carter. - Convert those offices into restrooms so you don't have to walk down stairs to take care of business. - Make the concourse larger. Use some of it for stairs/elevators for the 2nd level. - Create a new space for tickets AND a store to allow more room in the general concourses. - And even though you don't see it, give it a more attractive facade. To match everything else in that area, use the Southwest Art Deco style and yellow brick. Last edited by JJG; April 13th, 2012 at 07:40 AM. |

Indiana University have posted this gigapixel panorama of Assembly Hall during the IU vs North Carolina Game. Enjoy.
Edit: For some reason posting the link doesn't work. So just put "panoramas . com" where the asterixes are. gigapixel.**************/hoosiersbasketball/ |

Plan is to eventually replace Assembly Hall with a new arena, isn't it?
