That would be nice, however that possibility is remote as Port Salford is not needed now the line into Liverpool docks is electrified.
Manchester is not doing well in the Credit Crunch, quite badly really. HSR will turn the place around. The canal will not and neither will a two berth container barge terminal. You have to be realistic the canal infilling is the only way.
