If anything the World Design Capital project might help get this off the ground.

Still on the cards, and was presented as a project as part of the bid, and during the tour of the CTICC. (see image below from inspection)

I'm not sure if this has been posted before (half of the image links are now broken), but:

No news on construction, I take it? It'd be nice if this could be completed along with the convention centre expansion, but considering the two are unrelated and there's been no word on it, I highly doubt it.

it would be a great addition, but with that location and land running out downtown surely there will be other more "worthy" projects for the space?

They should put this on Robben Island where people who go there will get a snce of the antithesis of what they want to achieve, thus making peace the prize, and more worthy and heartfelt than ever. Or they can build it near to the company's gardens / parliment??

me too. i think a trick has been missed with robben island down the years. it has the potential to be even more informative than it currently is.

If this is supposed to be an actual working building, to be occupied by staff and visitors, it is would not make much sense to hide it away on an island. I think the current proposed location is fine, and the building will contrast nicely with the ones surrounding it - both in terms of looks and purpose.
