. . ang sadya sina kung ibutang na sang caller ang telepono nga indi makompleto ang information nga ginakuha sang receptionist sang 911, all the 3 (police, ambulance and fire department ) will go to the address. Pero kung kompleto, isa lang - depende sa need sang caller. . . Actually ang receptionist, expert ina sya kag mahatag ina sya sang instructions kug ano ang himuon sang caller sa incident nga nagakatabo sa oras nga nagatawag ang caller.

It will be a big help for the city residents if there is this kind of response service in Iloilo. . .

OWWA 6 eyes satellite offices in Iloilo and Antique provinces

Iloilo City, April 24(PNA) – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) here is proposing the establishment of satellite offices in the municipality of Guimbal, Iloilo and in Antique either in June or July this year.

The project is in collaboration with the local governments of Guimbal and the San Jose de Buenavista, the capital town of Antique, according to OWWA regional director Samuel Madrid.

“This project will cater to the needs of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Antique and Guimbal and other nearby towns as well.”

He also said that it would be beneficial, especially for the people from the provinces as they need not go to the regional office in Iloilo City for their needs and other transactions.

Guimbal was chosen as the location for the satellite office in Iloilo being the center town of the first district of Iloilo and San Jose de Buenavista, which is the capital town of Antique.

Staff and employees of OWWA would handle the provincial offices, he said. (PNA)

Binay identifies Sta. Barbara as AFP, PNP housing site

ILOILO CITY, April 24 (PNA) -– Vice President Jejomar Binay has identified the town of Sta. Barbara as one of ideal project sites for the housing units of low-salaried military and police officers in the province.

The National Housing Authority (NHA) will spearhead the implementation of project here starting this year, he said.

Binay disclosed that the housing project for Visayas and Mindanao has been set for competitive bidding.

Once the contractors of the project are identified, the construction work has to commence immediately, he said.

“Uumpisahan natin ang proyekto sa madaling panahon,” Binay told reporters during his recent visit here.

Binay said housing project initially covers low-salaried personnel of Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) only.

But President Benigno S. Aquino III expanded the coverage of program to Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), he said.

The housing project for AFP and PNP personnel started last year in the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal in Luzon. The phase 1 of the project entails the construction of 21,800 housing units costing some P4 billion.

The phase 2, on the other hand, will commence in Visayas and Mindanao covering the personnel of BFP and BJMP. (PNA)

DepEd 6 hires 258 new teachers

ILOILO CITY, May 24 (PNA) – The Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office 6 has hired 258 new teachers for school year 2012-2013.

DepEd Regional Dir. Mildred Garay said the newly- hired teachers will be distributed to the 18 school divisions, including that in Escalante in Negros Occidental.

She said these new teachers will partially respond to the lacking number of teachers in the region.

The DepEd director said they expect an increase in the number of enrollees in the forthcoming school year because of the K+12 curriculum that will be implemented and the requested 10 percent increase in the tuition fee of around 80 private schools in Western Visayas.

Dir. Garay said they are ready to implement the K+12 program that will extend the present basic education course by two more years in accordance to world standards.

The training of trainors (TOTs) from the national level cascaded down to the regional, division and school levels, she said, forms part of their preparation.

She added that they have Certified Teacher Education Training Institutions like the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology in Iloilo City and the Colegio de San Agustin in Bacolod City that are helping them in the training of teachers for Grade 7.(PNA)
