City looks great, as for the building...

(shamelessly grabbed from that video, looks a bit like SimCity! )

...it fills a hole at least. That's about all I have to say on the matter.

Likewise. You'd think a building adjacent to the main entry point of town would have been a bit more adventurous.

Nice animation, you'd think it was built already, i like the building and the way it sits, will do what it says on the tin at the end of the day...although i did like the previous design a lot better and was a lot more ambitious than this one.

Let's hope the Scottish Power HQ covers that base

I actually don't mind the building now. Its taller than i thought and will add density to this area. Also hides the gap site which will hopefully house the SP building.

Its not a total disaster, IMO, this building but I wonder if in the fullness of time we'll consider that smashing video to be the best thing about this project.

That said, the views out that boardroom look amazing. I doubt they will have any trouble getting tennants for this one. Quite like the look of the public realm too, it would be very pleasant to eat one's sarnies on those steps on a sunny lunchtime.

Any word on this development starting? Planning approval was Feb and it was to start "within weeks" with a completion by the end of 2013...

No sign of anything happening on site, still in use as a car park and the blue container has gone. I think it may have been for the work getting done on the Hilton hotel. Last check on site yesterday.

...the last comment sums up the feedback well I think.

Has there been any revisions following this review?

Ryden Appointed Joint Agent with CBRE for St Vincent Plaza, Glasgow

Oct 30th 2012

Abstract (Glasgow) Ltd – a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mark Glatman’s Abstract Securities Ltd – has announced that it has appointed Ryden as joint agent with CBRE at its speculative 170,000 sq. ft. 'St Vincent Plaza' development for Glasgow City Centre.

Ryden will join CBRE in marketing the new 'Grade A' building, which is in a highly prominent location on St Vincent Street at the gateway to Glasgow's Central Business District and opposite the site of the proposed new HQ of Scottish Power.

St Vincent Plaza will comprise lower ground, ground and ten upper floors together with 78 car parking spaces and is likely to be one of the only speculative office schemes of its size in the UK, with space priced from just £23 per sq. ft. – a significant discount on current headline rents in the city. The scheme will be available for occupation in Summer 2014.

Just minutes' walk from both Charing Cross and Anderston train stations, St Vincent Plaza will also offer immediate access to the M8 as well as several bus routes and is within easy walking distance from Glasgow's main retail and leisure zones.

Abstract’s Development Director, Christopher McPherson, said: "There has been some speculation in the market about who will be appointed alongside CBRE to market St Vincent Plaza and we are very pleased to be in a position to announce Ryden as joint agent.

“Ryden's appointment creates an extremely strong joint agency team that we are confident will achieve the best possible outcome for our development. Both CBRE and Ryden have excellent track records in letting 'Grade A' space in Glasgow and we look forward to working with them both.”

Ewan Cameron, Regional Managing Partner for Ryden, said: “St Vincent Plaza will represent a huge boost to Glasgow in terms of attracting new occupiers to the city and also displays a genuine optimism in the city that is much needed in this climate. With space at the building priced from just £23 per sq. ft, which is far below local headline rents, this building is a superb opportunity to relocate to exemplary space built to Central London standards, at extremely achievable and competitive rents.”

St Vincent Plaza will offer flexible, virtually column free floor plates of 17,000 sq ft, a feature office level with terrace, and some of the best views in the City. The building is designed to a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standard and an EPC 'B' rating. It will provide the most efficient and environmentally friendly office accommodation in the city and will be delivered into a market where available ‘Grade A’ supply has all but disappeared.

The scheme has been designed by Glasgow-based Keppie Design. Bowmer & Kirkland have been appointed as the contractor.

Good to see some movement on this one. Ryden probably a good choice too, given that they were Glasgow's top agent again last year.

http://www.ryden.co.uk/news/RydenNew...wsTopAgent.php

Ryden has been named the Most Active Agent in Glasgow by Estates Gazette following the magazine’s annual deals competition. The win is based on the total number of deals done in the year to September 2010 across all sectors.

The latest league tables produced by CoStar have also confirmed the firm’s leading position in the Glasgow office market. CoStar analysed market activity in the year to September 2010 and the results show that Ryden is the top office agent for number of instructions, number of transactions and floorspace let or sold in Glasgow. Outperforming its competitors, the team completed 46 deals totalling 327,439 sq ft, equivalent to a 16.4% and 17.8% market share respectively.

Ewan Cameron, Managing Partner of Ryden’s Glasgow office said: “This is great news and reflects our strong ability to achieve results for our clients even in a difficult climate. This is the eighth consecutive year that we have won the Estates Gazette Most Active Agent award and when clients look at this, along with our CoStar accolade, they will be confident that they are dealing with an excellent property advisor.”

Glad to see this hasn't just died a quiet death. I was getting worried.

This and the Scottish Power HQ should be another boost for Finnieston, I would think. Thousands of new people working just outside the area, providing customers for Argyle Street shops/cafes/pubs. And potential new residents if people want to live close to work.
