#22 Somerset Road - 5F - Commercial - Green Point | Planned

So...it's half way knocked down (finally...the last true hole in this section of green point). Anyone know what their plans for it are?

^ agreed, and used the space to make bronx much bigger. I notice the street on the side has been blocked off. that's good, considering how hectic it gets in that area at night.

I really hope they still intend on attaching the orange fins to the new Beaulah building because it's looking so dingy with the advertising stuck all over it Despite it being new, it's going to claim the title of Green Point's worst once Bronx is completely demolished.

Now if only they can deal with the drug dealers in the area. Went out for dinner with colleagues a a few weeks ago. We were approached for buying drugs at least 5 times during our short walk from the Protea hotel. Quite embarrassing, as we had international colleagues with us. Those car guards are a BIG problem.

I know, right? I went to Beaulah the Friday before last and between the club and walking to the car, we were approached around 3/4 times...all by Nigerian drug dealers too :/ One even had the nerve to grab on my mate's arm and pull him back when he said no.

I've noticed a new trend - 'Hey bra, I'm trying to get R5 for the shelter tonight' - said in a very surfer type accent.

it happens everywhere... certain spots in london and new york offer you the same experience. im sure your international colleagues have seen it all before.

According to the owner of Beaulah, the plans are vague as decisions are still being made, but she was told that site would remain 'empty' for at least a year. She was told that a retail option was being explored for the site but at this stage, anything could happen.

Did she say anything about the cladding of her own building?

Thanks I really hope they plan on doing it because that training studio's advertising all over the building makes it look so cheap.

So Bronx is gone in its entirety. They're busy paving the site at present.

I hope they plan on patching up the side of the Beaulah building, because - due to having been attached to the Bronx building - it now consists of patchy exposed brickwork and damaged plaster :/

Yes, walked past there this weekend. It looks pretty shitty. Can't believe they didn't do the fins. Surely, it wouldn't have cost a fortune, and it would have lifted the currently drab looking box into something that better suited to the surrounding area. mind = blown.

The word from the owner is that the tinted windows were put in as a substitute for the fins as these were intended to mitigate the effects of the sunlight. So, although she is hoping the fins will be installed, it doesn't sound likely.

There should be by-laws when it comes to renders and final products. If a render or design is approved, you pay a penalty if you alter from what's approved.

yeah the finished result is nothing to look at...

why tearing down Bronx? if they replace it with one like the bealuh one then it will be poor form for the area, some of those older buildings have character
