Would like to see Ryanair fly to Moscow. Could use cheap transportation to Moscow at my next European trip.

Dreams Come True with Domodedovo
07.05.2012

Domodedovo Airport was the first one in Russia to accept Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a commercial basis

http://aviaforum.ru/showthread.php?t=17868&page=382

May 7, Moscow Domodedovo airport was the first one in Russia to accept a commercial flight of the state-of-art airliner Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The “dream liner”, owned by Japan Airlines (JAL), departed from Tokyo's Narita Airport at 10:45 local time and landed at the final destination – Domodedovo Airport - by 16:00 (Moscow time) on the same day. Time of start of commercial operation of Boeing 787 is unique in the Russian practice – it was the first time in modern history that a foreign-made aircraft makes regular commercial flights to a Russian airport just in six months after its commissioning.

The route Tokyo (Narita) - Moscow (Domodedovo) is one of the first routes, at which the newest aircraft made by U.S. aerospace giant is now operated. Moscow has become a priority direction due to the fact that both Domodedovo airport and JAL seek to provide their passengers with the most comfortable way to travel to Japan.

‘Domodedovo airport has historically established itself as an innovator in air transport: the first flights of IL-62 and the supersonic dream of the civil aviation, aircraft Tu-144, were made from this airport. Today the airport has brought to life a new dream, accepting the first commercial flight of Dreamliner,’ says Igor Borisov, Director of Domodedovo airport. ‘Arrival of a unique liner that was created with the help of revolutionary technology is just a continuation of half-a-century tradition in the field of advanced solutions.’

‘Today, Domodedovo - one of the largest airports in Russia and Europe – is to accept Dreamliner, performing its first commercial flight from Tokyo to Moscow. We congratulate our colleagues on this milestone event in the world of aviation,’ said Dmitry Khrol, Director of Public Relations of Boeing in Russia and the CIS countries.

The official welcoming ceremony for Boeing 787 will take place in Moscow Domodedovo Airport on May 17. It will bring together executives of JAL and Domodedovo airport, representatives of the Embassy of Japan, members of the tourism industry, as well as foreign and Russian media. The traditional waterbridge - a water bridge created by water flows let by two fire engines above the taxiing aircraft – promises to be the most spectacular part of the event.

Direct flight from Domodedovo to Sweden

From Domodedovo airport to unique touristic route Gothenburg with Yamal

Since May 21, 2012 Yamal airlines will start to carry out a direct regular flight on Moscow - Gothenburg route from Domodedovo. A new direction, tickets on which already are in open sale, is unique for the Russian market of air transportation – currently airlines doesn't serve flights between the capital of Russia to the second largest economic and tourist center of Sweden. The proximity to Norway and Denmark makes Gothenburg a good point to start travel across Scandinavia.

Moscow (Domodedovo) - Gothenburg (Landvetter)

YC731 1.3.5. 9:20 10:15 CRJ200

Gothenburg (Landvetter) - Moscow (Domodedovo)

YC732 1.3.5. 11:15 14:30 CRJ200

I wonder why the rapid-exit taxiways in svo are not in use? Maybe for now the take offs and landings are operated seperately by the two runways? Looks like the 3550m runway is for landings now because there is more rubber on it.

As I was leaving SVO last weekend, we boarded the flight & a storm blew over the airport & closed it down for 2 hours. We sat in the plane for those 2 hours then when the airport opened again, we had to wait another hour in line to take off because of the backlog of aircraft waiting to take off & land. I think only one runway was in use. Luckily I had a 9 hour layover in Beijing.

Haha yeah. I don't think I could have sat in the plane on the tarmac for 9 hours.

Wezza, and what are your general impressions of SSJ-100? Is it comfortable inside? And as for hand luggage? You used it to Kazan and St.Petersburg?

I flew the SSJ on the KZN-SVO route, we had to change planes to an A320 for SVO-LED. Loved it, I like the 2/3 seating. It's good when you are travelling as a pair, you can have 2 seats to yourself. The cabin was very roomy inside, i had a small suitcase for hand luggage & there was no problem fitting it in the overhead locker. Also, I found the cabin very quiet inside, probably quieter than the A320.
